It actually flys very well. I have flown one a couple of times. Excellent design and parts quality is outstanding.

If the parts costs are in line with Align then it will do well IMO.

To hover is divine, the alternative is rather PLANE.

Made in korea
I would pay more and prefer a product made in the usa.I bought my ion-x from ma payed good money for it but the parts quality is outstanding and the support is great.I would prefer that ma made all there stuff here in the usa.I liked the fact that ma was all american.

I hope this isnt a bad move for MA. I always thought they should try to shrink down the Ion-X. I was looking at some pictures of the bean and was not at all impressed. Frame design looks lame.

I like the frame design. The caron on T-rex frames is not that terribly thick either and it is not really and issue. I like the servo mounts on the Beam. With a solid alum plate it should be pretty stiff in the upper frame area and it makes for a little better geometry. The machining looks decent enough.

MA would not back a crappy product. I am sure this little gem will work out just fine.

I've had a Beam for six months now and I love it! It was really easy to assemble with only about 3/4 of the parts count found on a TRex SE. After the first flying session with the Beam I put both of my TRex SEs on ebay. The quality of the machining is fabulous. Both of my Beams run smooth as silk right out of the box. There are some great features on this machine. All swashplate control rods are the same length so there is no mechanical inter action. If you have any interaction with this machine it's probably in your radio. The tail rotor transmission is so simple and much easier to work on when replacing belts. I'm flying mine completely stock to include the Sung Woo carbon fiber blades that come with the kit. I have a set of Radix and SAB 325s but have not felt inclined to try them since the Sung Woos feel so good. Don't even think twice about buying this machine, just get it and I can assure you that you won't want to fly any other 450 size machines. The Beam is so much more stable and predictable than the TRex especially on the collective. It's not bouncy, shifty or quirky. First hover felt like flying a 90 compared to the TRex. The Beam is da Shiznit!

Damn UH, i want 2 of them now, as soon as they are available thru MA i will order 2, i had so many 450 SE, and they were nice, but this thing loooks awesome out of the box, so i will go with 2 of these and fly them for a while, and to think i almost ordered another 450SE V2, i will wait for this one, its nice to know it is simpler to work on than the 450, thanks for the feedback on this bird, what motors and esc are u running, i plan to go with the JAZZ ESC on both birds but motor choice i do not know yet, i will also be flying it on 3S do you think thats enough? or should i bump up to 4S?...Ivan!

Still love my 450's and with the new motors, batteries and the V2 head the 450 is still the benchmark in my book. I will have to see the beam first hand. I dont see how the beam is supposed to be like a 90.

T-Rex have you seen the indoor vid of the beam? if not u should check it out im not knocking the Rex just willing to try something different, as far as i am concerned the 450SE is the benchmark for all other 450's and so far none have come close, but now i think this one will surpass it, hey i am a MA fan, this heli looks like serious comp for the Rex 450, and if it is easier to work with that alone will drive me towards it, and the vid looks like the heli is outstanding...Ivan!

Yeah nothing new for a 450 thats for sure, but still a good video. Another 3 min. flight too???
I wanted to also mention that I own a MA Razor and Ion-X2 so I am not biased by any means. I looked at the pictures of the beam and noticed what I beleive is a weakness and poor design just like the Lepton and the Razor and that is the belt driven tail design directly off of the mainshaft. This design requires a very tight non-efficient belt setting for hardcore 3d. The Lepton and Razor both will still slip the belt under hard conditions with the tightest setting. Trust me on this, practice your moves with left piros to prevent the tail belt from slipping. If you are not pushing the tail hard especially to the right then you will probably never notice. Dont beleive me?? Try hard collective puchouts while piro to the right. Or even worse try some left piros, stop, then go into right piros. Buzzzzzzzzz is what you will hear. Some fast funnels or hurricanes in strong wind will break it loose too. If anyone would like to challenge me on this chime in but I have many flights on these machines and I have tested a lot. MA needs to do something about the tail drive on the Razor, or at least make it an upgrade.
PLEASE ! Sorry to ramble on.

Why would any pilot want to do piros predominantly to the right anyway? Yeah, I understand wanting to mix things up a bit by doing reversals but for the most part, most pilots usually turn to the left to go with the flow rather than fight against torque. Turning right is less efficient and robs the main rotor of the punch you are looking for. If you learned to fly by turning to the right then I think a 4S battery set up is in order and go ahead and tighten that belt up until it's just shy of snapping.

There are a handfull of pilots out there who turn to the right with belt driven tails and I think Curtis Youngblood is one of them. Doesn't seem to bother him but then again he is in a totally different universe of smooth. I've never seen that guy do anything jerky so maybe he is a bad example in this situation.

Not trying to upset anyone but maybe it's time to think about turning the other way. Another benefit is that you are less likely to get a boomstrike while performing piroflips if you turn to the left. Just my 2 cents.

Check out Bobby Watts in the movies section spanking the BEAM, the thing was rocking in the air, i mean if this thing can take a Bobby Watts beating, it can take anything, that vid shows how rock solid that bird is, cant wait for them to get here....Ivan!

Ivan:

Where did you get the BeamHeli web address from? We are sponsored by Beam and we didn't even know that address.

The company that produces Beam 402 (or Beam E4 V2) is BoSung in Korea. They produce industrial Brushless motors and factory capability similar to Align.

They will be producing 50size and 90size as well. In Korea, Beam quicky became the contender to Trex450.

Beam is 100% designed and produced in Korea.

I just saw the address in Beamheli web and it is in Singapore. The official Beam (I think) web is http://www.beam-inc.com but it hasn't been developed yet and it just has some pictures.
