I just run a torquemaster 180 with (2) 7.2 volt 2000 mah nimh batteries wired in series and will fire my evo 90 with os91szh with absolutely no problems.

best part is it can sit for weeks at a time and will still fire the evo 90 without having to charge the packs.

is it the best starter out there, probably not but sure works great and didn't cost very much.

If you enjoy projects, and want to have the killer setup, you can't go wrong with a Sullivan Dynatron ($73), a Makita 18V 3Ah Li-ion battery pack ($69), the adapter by The Finer Edge ($50) and a wand by Vario or Sullivan ($70 to 100). Amazing combo that just spins the 90 as if it weren't there!

We used a relay, to avoid fusing the switch.

andyp has a few pics in his gallery.

Admittedly, Torquemaster 180 with two 7-cell NiMH or NiCd packs works too, but it's not quite as glitzy

I use a regualar heavy duty Hangar 9 starter, with 14 1500 mah nimh cells. Starts it every time. Charges on my field charger in 30 minutes.

That mavrikk thing is useless for helis anyways, its got a ton of torque but at the expense of being too slow and it hammers your start coupling and one way bearing.

Makes a great airplane starter though, cranks my 100, 108 and 140 with authority.

I have been using a mini max for over four years now. It is cheap, powerful, durable and light, although it cannot be used as it arrives from factory.

If you are willing to spend some time into setting it up, I can assure you there is no better starter in the market. A Dynatron doesn't come close in versatility.

It turns cold 90 size engines using 12V in a breeze.

Check my gallery for an idea of one of the modifications I did to it.

It's easy to find an excuse to do wrong. Hard is not to find an excuse to do right.

90 Starter

Sullivan Dynatron is by far the best, hooked up to about 20 cell and let it spin. It will spin anything. This is what I have and I usually wind up starting other's as well because they don't have enough power. Plug it into a thunder power lipo 5000 made for the T-Rex. It is awsome.
