Hello everyone

I have been going crazy trying to figure out the tail on my heli sence switching to the DX7. What I have is the Trex 450 SE V1 all stock. JR servo pack with the 3400 on the tail. 401 Gyro Im running the 13 tooth pinion with the Align V1 motor. When I had this set up on my DX6 My tail was rock solid through any flip, roll anything. Sence swithcing to the DX7 I cant get the tail to hold in a full collective climb out the tail blows out to the right. On the DX7 once you adjust the gain below 50 % you go into Rate mode so I have adjusted from 52% to 100 % with no change on this issue. I have adjusted the limit on the Gyro from 50 to 140 with no change. So Im kinda lost with this new radio. I have the Gyro assigned to the gear channel as I did on the DX6, but the DX6 adjusted the gain of the gyro with the trv. adj. screen on the gear chanel. The DX7 has a seperate screen for Gyro gain. also on the DX6 when I flipped the gear channel the red light would go out on the gyro and it does not do the same on the DX7. Is this normal or is there a problem that im not seeing.

Bill

On my DX 7 I use the gear channel for the gyro and not the gyro program. My settings are with the gear switch up the travel adjust is +55 and with the switch down it is -55. Works great and the tail holds well. Only difference is that I use a Futaba 9650 servo but your settings should be close. CHuck

Seems to me if you have the gyro plugged into the gear channel you need to adjust it with the atvs on the gear channel.

Like Chuck I don't use the gyro menu I have it assigned and plugged into the gear channel and adjust it with the atv's

It sounds like you flipping the switch isn't doing anything that's why I'm asking where you have it actually plugged into. The light should deffinately change when you flip the switch.

I'm having the same exact problem... I've messed with almost EVERYTHING. Whenever I do inverted climbout the tail blows to the left.... it's so frustrating because you can't do straight piro flips.

On the DX7, going below 50 on the ATVs when plugged into the GEAR channel (and adjusting the GEAR ATVs for gyro gain) will not put you in rate mode. One thing you should check is your rudder trims. Make sure that all your rudder trims are the same as that when you start up the heli because if they are not the same in the other flight modes, then when you switch flight modes, the gyro will go out of heading hold mode to rate mode.

I typically run a gain less than 50 without problems. You may want to look for any binding on tail and tail control rods.

We haven't seen Colonel Angus around these parts for years!

Bah7566 sent me a PM and spelled it out for me. My gyro was pluged into the gear chanel on my receiver however I had my gyro assigned to the gear chanel as well. That sounds correct but you need to gear assigned to the gear chanel in order to use gear trv. adj. for your gyro gain. When you asign gyro to the gear chanel you get the gyro sencing screen and you adjust your gyro gains on that screen. So if you want to be able to use your Gear switch for HH and Rate mode you need to assign gear to the gear channel not gyro to the gear channel. I made the changes that Bah7566 suggested and I believe my tail problem is corrected.
