Does anyone know when the Futaba 7C 2.4GHz radio will be out so we can buy them? Or am I better off getting the Spectrum DX7 or JR 7 channel 2.4GHz radio?

why do you want5 a 7 channel?
If you want good heli programming I would go with a JR X9303 on 2.4, or a Futaba 9C on FAAST

I am a beginner looking at getting in to the Heli hobby. I have been in to the cars/trucks for quite some time and just want to try something new, that being Heli's. I am trying to get in to this at a some what reasonable price lets say like $1400 so with a

$400 Raptor50
$220 for GY401+S9254 Gyro/Servo for the tail rotor
$200 O.S. Hyper 50 engine

That leaves me with about $580 for Radio, batteries, starter(I have a rotor start but am not sure if that will work yet), probably should get a crash kit and then some other spare parts.

So I am thinking a 7-Channel Futaba 2.4GHz if it comes out soon enough or a Spektrum DX7 or a JR 7-channel 2.4GHz if the Futaba does not come out by the time i am ready to make my purchase.

A 7-Channel 2.4GHz Heli radio should be a good radio and work well for basic flying to some 3D wont it?

7 channel will work fine. At some point you may want to grow, but you can fly most anything heli related on 7.
The 9 channel radios give lots of additional programming flexibility you may want some day

I do not see any separate budget for servos.

I do not know what Futaba will include for servos, but you will want good strong servos with a reliable gear train and a proven track record.

The DS821's that come with the DX7 are, by Spektrum/JR's own admission, not appropriate for a .50 sized glow machine.

The DX7 itself, works extremely well in the Raptor 50 (with better servos).

I was told by Futaba agent that the 7C version has gone back to late December / January 2008 for delivery.

Apparently, they have a few bugs to sort to out.

Spektrum is at least well understood at the field, adnm very reliable, adn available.
That plus Futaba 9252 servos and you are all set for a 50 size bird
