Delima...

I've been thinking about modding my BCPP, Either going the HDX 300 belt drive setup,or keeping it an E-tail and going brushless for all the motors. After seeing this new kit, I don't think I'll be getting any sleep tonite!

Yea, I bet the fellows at Horizon Hobby are watching this and other forums and just getting a little chuckle. And should I say Gloating!
Also I would say they must have been paying attention to atleast "some" things mentioned here on the forums about the CPP.

You're manufacturing a contradiction by insisting that they intend to sell it to people in your position
I'm not manufacturing anything,I'm just reading their website and using THEIR words......this would be a GREAT starter package...my only point was that if they really want to sell this to "intermediate to advanced"flyers, then a ARF kit makes more sense thats all.....sales has nothing to do with quality or correctness of a product...how many people here bought a CP/PRO dumped a ton of cash into and still were'nt happy?.....and after all the negative posts about the BLADE it still sells....so quality and usefulness dont really seem to affect sales all that much

you know what my HONEST feelings were when I read about this heli?I think its a total slap in the face to all us CP/PRO ownwers who have been defending the BLADE and toughing it out,and pumping money into it for the last 2 years....my reason being:they have time and money for R+D,release, promotion, and advertisement of a new heli but have done NOTHING to help the BLADES problems....how about a HARDENED STEEL main shaft?I know a heli needs breakpoints but that shaft is ridiculous, how about a 12V rated tail motor?Main blades that are competitive in price(HBK2 mains $9.99)nothing crazy, just some minor things to really make the BLADE a GREAT heli

The best product for a manufacturer is one that sells and one that is consumed. The Blade CP/P excels in both. It is a marketing success and is probably responsible for launching the micro craze. On a marketing standpoint, there is absolutely nothing they should change.

The mini heli is a niche HH has not filled and it only makes sense to come out with a mini heli. And going by their successful rtf formula, they have come up with an excellent package. You will be hard pressed to find a package out there that matches the HH goods. I hope the heli lives up to expectations. can't wait for the reviews.

The release date moves as usual

Just checked Horizon's website and now it's early November. Yesterday it was October. Looks like Horizon is up to its usual pushing back of release dates.

I too wish they had one heli/motor combo. the esc might be good might not? all says is 25Amp heli one..... and I am sure the stock gyro sucks so get the 401 for it. the servos I am not sure about. but I would just buy the dx7 and put those in it, i had planed to do that with the mini titan but not sure what heli to get

lots of planes, MCPX

Most likely the ESC is a standard 25 amp e-flite esc. I seriously doubt they will do any R&D to develop a new one.

The Gyro actually looks to hold better than the G90 or Telebee gyros which is a very good thing. I to seriously doubt we will se 401 performance out of it but if they manage to make a gyro inbetween the 401 and the G90 then that's great. The standalone price is what I'm interested in. It will need to be priced around the current G90 since the LogicTech is only $105.

I'll hold judgment on the servos. David from Horizon has said about the servos:
The DS75's feature a new amplifier, and newly tooled gears with less slop and a fine output spline (compatible with the S60).
So the verdict will be out on them. I would love to see a lower priced digital that performs well. We'll see.

Of course everything will be speculation till we get our hands on them in a few months.

it appears this is a package deal with radio and everything out of the box to fly.

if that is the case, and it flys almost as good as a basic trex, it will draw alot more people into the hobby.

the equiptment does not have to be state of the art, it just needs to be able to do figure eights without exploing.

this may be the holy grail for folks considering this hobby.

this will be interesting.

I'm suprised E-flite hasn't been more competitive with Esky and had a belted 300 out by now - But I'm sure the majority of E-flite's consumers never heard of these online forums and tend to buy what's on the shelf as not many LHSs carry the Esky helis

As for the 400 I guess the Trex has really been more competition to E-flite than Esky has from the "just get a Trex" recommendation which isn't always economically viable so the B400 package is a very viable competitor to the Trex for semi-/newbs as the B400/DX6i package can be had for half the cost of getting a Trex up - So this throws a big wrench in the "just get a Trex" thing

My thoughts on the Eflite 400 size:

Why jump into a market dominated by Align? ...and sold by the same distributer?

Prices for the 400 size parts make it quite obvious that they have been screwing us all this time on Blade CP parts. Makes E-flite look quite bad.

This is directed straight to Eflite. We wanted a direct drive 300 size heli, listen to your customers! Modders are making conversion kits left and right now. Factory built belt drive 300 size heli's are rare, you could have been a leader in that class instead of a wannabe Trex in an already flooded class.

All that being said, it does seem like a decent value for the money, and mabey that will be enough to make it float. It seems to fly well, but I wont be buying one. A Belt Drive 300, I am in the market for. Hopefully they will release one of those in the future.

I don't think this is a "wannabe Trex" any more than the Blade CP Pro is a "wannabe JR Parkmite". These RTF helis are aimed at people who aren't comfortable with the idea of buying components separately and assembling a heli themselves. They're the people who even if they bought a Trex, would probably pay the hobby shop to choose components for it and assemble it for them. If you're at the stage where you know enough to choose your own components and assemble a heli, then you're probably better off doing that than buying any RTF, even this one.

This is a particularly nice package for an RTF though. While it's true that the 450 class is fairly flooded, I don't know of any other RTF in the class which comes with such a nice setup, especially the radio gear.

having been in the hobby for 10 years, i don't really think of this as a 'trex competitor'. i see this as an option for folks who wouldn't spend what it takes for a trex with the top components.

it is a good value and looks durable. i doubt it will take much of the trex market. just an entry level machine to test interest and then they may buy a trex later if they find that they like the hobby.
'part time heli flyers' if you will or folks looking for a good flying 'novelty' machine.

you can spend a grand on a decked out trex with transmitter but it looks like this thing comes with everything for well under $500.

i see this machine in a different class than the trex at a good value. great for bringing folks to the table that would otherwise not get into the hobby.

it may not be quite the 3d machine that the trex is but i bet it will do good at the basics and maybe better.

I think Bilbo hit the nail on the head, I dont think people would be nearly as excited about this thing if it wasnt for this good entry level radio that they should be selling seperately.

For that reason alone I think its a pretty good value for the money.

i agree with this too. looks like a good opportunity for someone that currently flys rtf's like the blade that want to step up to 400 size helis but still don't own a programmable radio or haven't wanted to bother with learning to program one.
