I just got one of these and it looks pretty good. Anyone already working one of these up?

I just received my as well. I was thinking of painting it but not sure about the paint scheme. It's certainly a lot bigger than what I expected. I think we'll need the longer drive belt.

The Syingray reference photos are great. Now where did you buy the fuselage?

the Australian Align distributor, http://www.WattsupRC.com has them in stock for only $A110, which is an absolute bargain for a good quality glass fuse.

My biggest hesitation is whether to split the fuse in half for easier access to the mechanics or just follow the vague suggestion from Align to "cut the pellucid canopy cover and tape it on the fuselage upper cover and the fuselage (or use other ways to fix)". This of course means that you are more or less obliged to charge the battery in the heli, which I certainly don't like. Boyd, I was thinking of splitting it like you did with the Darthk A109 fuselage, but the LHS guy reckons that I will need to install a bulkhead just behind the cut to provide sufficient rigidity, and then have locating pins on the front part.

I can see that the ply platform (which gets glued to the fuse, and has the trex chassis bolted on top of it using the undercarriage screws) extends well forward to support the nose gear, so there is enough structure forward to locate the forward body shell. However, the thought of screwing up the job of cutting the fuse with a Dremel cutting disc scares me senseless!

I will probably chicken out, and be content with getting it to work with a set of Micro-Air retracts I have coming.

Should be interesting, with the Hubdave all belt drive CF chassis in there!

Fuselages this small unless the fuselage is super thin dosent really need any bulkheads. I can vac form a Jet ranger out of .020 styrene. To most people this would seem thin or flimsy but once it is glued up, its pretty rigid. I do get the occassional special order thicker.030 material requested. The fiberglass shouldnt need any bulkheading as a short answer. You are right about cutting the fiberglass, it would scare me to. If the cuts arent perfect, it will stick out like a sore thumb or Fat lip .

Thanks Ed! (sorry about the typo of your username)

You have convinced me not to cut it.

Here's a pic of the fuse and internal chassis
