I need some help with my heli. I have the gy240 on my trex 450. I set it up in rate mode first and adjusted the linkages on the tail so that with no trim the heli holds the tail pretty straight. Then when i switch over to heading hold mode and spool up, the heli spins and will not hold even tho it was just holding the tail straight in normal rate mode. The only way i can get the heli to hold in heading hold mode is by giving the rudder like 10 clicks of trim to stop the spin and then the tail holds pretty well. I dont get this.. i thought in heading hold adding any trim to the rudder would cause it to keep spinning but in my case it seems like adding trim is the only thing that is stopping it from spinning. But then in normal rate mode, it holds pretty well with no trim.. whats going on?

Don't you have to power up in HH mode for the Gyro to initialize properly? Switching after power up is invalid. Is that what you are doing?

no.. when i switched to heading hold i also unplugged the battery and then reset it. I have a 401 on my other 450 and a 401 on my 600 and both fly well. I set them up the same way. I dont get whats up with my 240. It works fine only when i give it alot of trim to stop the tail from spinning in heading hold mode.

On behalf of the 240 (maybe not yours) The only differences in performance I see, and I use both, are the pirouette rates. Heading hold is every bit as good. So you should expect that. The next logical thing to do, as distasteful as it might be, is to swap out the 240 with one of your 401's. It is the only way I can think of to eliminate it as the cause, which it is beggining to look like.
