My flights are 8:30 timed no matter what pac I use.

1200 to 1350 mil lipo's.

I can get another 1 min out of them after that if I wish.

HDX 300 3800 KV motor with 10 tooth pinion and Megapower 1350 mAh batteries will go 9 minutes with an adequate safety margin on the batteries. I like to be a bit kinder to the batt's and limit flights to 8 1/2 timed.

I did notice that the leftover power increased signficantly after a couple dozen charge cycles, intially I was limiting flights to 7 - 7 1/2 minutes due to packs being around 10.5 V at that point. After all those cycles the packs were coming in at roughly 11.6, so I upped the flight time by a minute and still have right around 11V at the end.

Looks like I'm back on the porch again.

The new carbon blades and Meaga batt worked great but the new mmain gear was warped and couldn't build up enuf HS for any helibatics.

Crap, where did I put the GD CC....????

My Blade CP has officially been dismantled to put the parts in my HBK2. Best descision I ever made

Flew all day yesterday, I'm loving it. Does taking the horizontal fin off really help with the tail bias? It seems to want to drift backards in a hover alot.

Setup changes

I noticed that the tail servo was getting overly hot after every flight, thought it might be the servo itself (it was an Airtronics I swapped out in favor of a JR 3400 on my Trex). Swapped the Airtronics out for a Futaba and still had the heat problem.

Yesterday at the field I had an opportunity to acquire a Raptor 30 V2... , so I now have a need for the GY 401 that has been on the King 2 since I started flying it. Last evening I swapped the 401 for an Align RCE 500 gyro and now the tail servo is cool to the touch after flying a full pack. Only assumption I can make is that the 401 is overkill for the King 2, it flys just fine with the RCE 500 (maybe even a bit better than with the 401), and the servo isn't getting worked to death. Sometimes bigger isn't better!

I took mine off simply because I managed to snap it in two after an "incident" in the backyard, don't really notice much if any difference in the way it flys. If you're seeing backward drift when hovering, either your CG is off towards the tail, or you may need to trim the swash for a bit of a forward bias if the CG is OK. I tried a dead level swash setup and still got backward drift with a neutral CG, so I adjusted the elevator servo linkage so that the swash is tipped forward a tiny bit and now it hovers without drift, YRMV...

I'm not finding a problem with my GY-401 and a Hitec HS-50. The servo is never hot and the small servo and gyro impresses me, even with it being held together with scotch tape. no screws on this servo? I removed the horizontal fin and I can now hover with a level swash and dead on CG, It flies just as good without it. Some people are going with extra weight or larger batt up front and the down wash on the fin levels it out with a level swash, but may require a larger canopy . I tested my stiffer fly-bar mod more last week and found a big difference in flips and loops. It made the HBK2 more precise in a loop, roll and flips. I found it easier to control the pitch as it flips. I could flip the heli in a very tight circle very easily. The week before most of my flips would dive to the ground and I could not easily do a clean even flip. I had to get the floppy flybar off my heli I could not leave it as is. I put the HBK2 in a serious nose dive also just for the heck of it. I took it up real high, tipped the nose all the way down and went to zero pitch. It took on serious stress when I pulled out of that !!! It was screaming, but it took it . I do remember that pack needing some TLC on the charger.

God job on the flying Fender !

Good to know. I'm not ruling out the possibility that there's something wrong with the GY 401, it's been thrown into the ground rather hard a couple times in the heli it was installed in prior to the HBK2.

I have another 401 in the Trex and there's no issues at all there. Maybe I should swap them to verify if there is something amiss with the one from the King2. I'd hate to install it on my new nitro bird and have a problem...

Yes, I am surprised that my tail servo isn't hot because I figure it takes a beating but it isn't even warm after a flight. I never have problems with my 2 GY-401's or the tail servos getting too hot. I would question that GY-401 it does sound like it is broken.

is anyone offering refunds for suckers who bought a BCPP. I just learned the main gear comes off HBK without disassembling the whole head what a novel idea.

the 401 has a high framerate for digital servos, I think this can be to much for the little digital servos like the DS285 and futabas counterpart. Was it switched to the digital mode?

...the more you fly and have to do some maintenance on this heli the more you love it...it really is designed VERY well for a heli thats less than $80.....Remember when you crashed a CP and the hole in the main shaft(for the pin) got that burr in it so you had to grind it off or rip the whole head off, then remove the whole landing gear set up, just to change the main gear that you were gonna bend in 5 flights anyway??
