I thought about changing EPA on 4 due to the design error of the tail slider. Did you do anything or just have way more throw one way vs the other?

just throwing out some interesting ?'s for everybody to learn.

One of the first thing I noticed when doing setup. I fixed it by using the HBK slider, and a Trex rotor hub & blade grips. Since the ball size is different on the Trex parts, I removed the links from the slider and substitued Align linkage ends, that gives the tail back the missing throw and you can then center the slider for even movement in both directions.

You don't need to use a matel assembly, the plastic Trex poart is cheap and readily available, you'll also need two linkage rod ends, so you'll have to buy the Trex linkage kit package, but it's only a couple bucks as well.

with the G90 Epa controls the piro rate, you adjust servo throw/slider travel by adjusting the position of the ball on the servo horn...just take the travel lenght not used out of the eqation and use the position where travel stops as your end point....center the slider then adjust the ball link to get max travel in each direction along with max servo throw.....DO NOT use EPA to set your servo throw.

I'm sure the T-rex parts fix will work...but if you have the tail servo control rod unattached from the servo and move it by hand.look at the tail blades from above the heli and center the slider then move the rod in either direction you will see that even with the stock set up the blades have the same ammount of pitch in both directions with maybe a little more to the right...so if you add that unused portion to the equation you will have way more travel to the right....at least on my heli......notice where the blades have 0 pitch, that is your center

edit..where the tail blade pitch is 0 is not center on the shaft so this offset was accounted for in the design

I made a setup mistake never boom mounted a servo before it was my end point adjustment. But it was mechanical I needed to move my servo a bit no other heli part mods needed I have full throw both ways other than the unused part of slider. Unfortunately my servo chatters, hits its throw both ends of the slider would It be a good thing to adjust pushrod for less throw and maybe loose the full throw or just let servo chatter at full throw.

definately dont let the servo chatter that will burn it out quick...move the ball link closer to the servo to shorten the travel until you are getting full throw with no binding.....set the servo horn at 90% and the pitch slider arm at 90%(center of shaft)then position servo so the rod connects the two links....then adjust the servo ball link to get proper throw

hi

Im ditching the piezo and putting in a 401 gyro and 3154 servo

Next on my list is DX7.. I have a JGF 400DH with 9t pinion ready with 25A EMAX ESC waiting for new 20C packs and the radio before installing the brushless...

why DX7 do you need a seventh channel for another heli? You can save a $100 with a 6 channel Dx6. I'm using futaba 6ex 2.4ghz and so is fenderstrat so you could get our tested settings for HBK2 around $200. $220 towerhobies $20 off $149 dollar order makes it an even 2 bills.

hi

I plan to use DX7 for my Nitros as well so yes I need a 7th channel.. Also the DX7 as you all are aware of, has faster communication to the servo and less latency!!! .... It will allow me to expand my fleet..

If the only thing I planned to fly was the HBK and Trex then yes, DX6 would be good.

pitch
elevator

gyro
gyro remote gain
governor
governor on/off and/or remote mixing..

Also

scale applications.. Retracts
ETC

LOL!!!

I had 7 channel receiver before and got fed up because did not have the extra channel so....

of course its not NECESSARY, but I plan to have this radio for the next several years with several different helicopters so, makes sense.. I actually would prefer the 9303 with 2.4 but thats double the price.. heh

It finally happened...

I knew it was just a matter of time, after 40 something flights I put he HBK2 in the dirt this evening, first crash for this heli!

No excuses, I wasn't paying full attention, dumb thumbed it, and down it went. Damage amounts to a broken wooden rotor blade, broken landing gear support, and a broken servo horn with missing linkage on the elevator servo. Apparently the servo horn was long enough to make contact with the outrunner motor when it hit the ground and it got ripped off the servo with linkage attached and flung into the weeds, wasn't quick enough hitting the hold switch! I actually heard it bounce off the fence somewhere along the back of the yard.

Placed an order for the parts a while ago from Heli-Direct, should see them Thursday (their warehouse is about 15 miles from my house). I also ordered a few spares to have on hand, a spare set of blades, tail boom, and spare belt. If I wanted to wait another week or more I would have just ordered another bare bones chassis from Hong Kong and had a full set of spares, but I've been flying the King daily and would rather get the parts ASAP.

It held up quite well and I'm glad I swapped the JR servos for the metal gear Hitec's, I'd be looking at servo repair or replacement otherwise. If it had been the Blade CPP crashing the same way it would have bent the mainshaft for certain and who knows what else.

On another subject, with the GY 401 and Aitronics servo I found it could drive the tail slider all the way in each direction on the shaft resulting in uneven throw/pitch on the tail blades. Using Trex parts allowed me to center the slider on the shaft with 0 pitch on the blades and equal throw in both directions. It now has full travel from tail rotor housing all the way out to the hub and the tail response is amazing
