Hey I was wondering, does Century have a new 50 size in the works? I know they just updated the Raven but I was wondering if they have plans for something new. To be honest, I'm starting to consider selling my Raven. Especially after building my 600N pro (sorry). In all honesty, neither performs better in the air than the other, however I will say this, the Raven is a PITA to work on in comparison. It's just little things that bother me, like having to take apart nearly the entire machine to change the upper bearing, having to split the frames to remove the engine, the tailboom grips hard to reach, etc. just a bunch of little stuff that literally makes me not want to work on it. So I'm wondering, is Century working on a new bird? I plan on staying with Century and probably won't sell my Raven (since I don't crash much anymore and won't have to work on it as much), but it definitely crossed my mine after the build of my 600N.

They were showing some computer generated plans for their next generation 30's and 50's to some at the Toledo show.

As this usually happens at the show prior to release. I would expect them to be available before or by the next Toledo show.

It is nice to see that some of the newly released 50's from other manufaturers are finally giving us features that the Raven has had forever. e.g. machined metal rotor hub that is not only secured to the mainshaft with a golt, but also clamps at the base, 4mm flybars with heavy duty flybar yokes instead of 3mm units with arms, full metal swashplates, torque tube driven tails, triple bearing tail rotors with machines steel hubs that use locknuts to secure the tail grips instead of aluminum units that use long grub screws or 3mm bolts, heavy duty landing gear etc.

Unfortunately they all seem substantially higher priced.

very true oldfart... still not fun to work on though. I've realized since being in school, that the time aspect is more detrimental than the money (surprisingly).

i sat down for a few hours and compared the Raven to the 600N. and to be honest, i'm going to end up going with the 600N. NOTHING against Century at any level. but a few things i like about the 600N better then the raven, mostly what Quantum mentioned, but also that you can get nice carbon frames.

i have enough money saved up in vacation pay at work that i can buy a 600N kit. i'll get the kit in a few weeks probably, then spend the winter buying and building what ever else i need for it.

since i love my trusty YS91's so much, i fully intend on getting the YS50 for it

Hey QuantumPSI I had about the same conversation as I was working on my Raven this weekend. The LHS is getting a shop heli for us to try out. If that heli flys as good as my Raven I will diffenitly be thinking about it.
Besides that I have had my Raven for almost 2 years and would like to try something else out. I just really like the way it fly compared to other 50's I've seen. Especially compared to Raptor 50. Just my opinion.
