I have a friend no I really do. He has given up on learning on a BCPP doesn't have the patience I did. He is looking for a coaxial he cant get past the drifting tail and slide to the left of a cp machine. We were looking at coaxials during work hours and me owning a HBK2 I looked at e-sky and saw the lama v4 looks fun. Is the bcx somehow better as it is way more expensive. Good and bad comments appreciated.

They'll both fly well. The BCX2 is definitely better, but I'm sure many people won't care enough about the ways it's better to spend the extra dough. Ways in which the BCX2 is better than the Lama:

1. The BCX2 comes with a 2.4 Ghz radio, which means you pretty much never worry about interference. Also it's better about not going crazy if you make dumb mistakes like turning off your transmitter before unplugging the battery in the heli: the 2.4 Ghz radio will reliably notice that the transmitter signal is gone and just shut off, whereas the Lama might just go crazy.

2. I found the radio and gyro work better and smoother in the BCX. Pretty much never any glitches, always smooth, whereas the Lama is always getting little twitches and the tail doesn't hold really smooth.

3. I found repairing the BCX easier than the Lama, it seems better designed for the most part.

The lama does fly fine though, and hover hands off just like a coax heli should, so if money's tight or you don't care about the above items get yourself a Lama instead.

well my friend lost $250 in something he only flew twice. So that is what drives him on the cheap and just wants something to toy with in the house and garage.

Well, as I said, my experience with the Lama is it's definitely not junk, so if your friend wants to keep spending down, he'll probably be happy with the Lama. The BCX2 is just higher end, but how high end do you really need a coax heli to be?

great thanks thats a big help on the outside it just seems unreal that a lama could be comparable with the cx of course not the cx2. yes 2.4 ghz is great I have a futaba 6EX but I would not suggest it in the eflite radio I could see the same problem happening with the pots that I had with my BCPP.

Lama vs Blade CX

Greetings, I have 2 "Coco Lama 3" and 2 Blade CX. Gotta say the Blade CX-1 is the better of the two!(now the CX 2 w/ spreadspec.is GREAT!) the Blade CX units did EXACTLY what was advertised, flew and hovered right out of box. Lamas took several flights as well as replacement parts. Also on the Lama 3, aluminum upgrade swashplate may snag on motor! (had to call cust. svc. @ Hobby Lobby, Robert was very helpful) Just need to bend motor wireing out of way. Some parts are interchangable, blades for Lama/HeliMAx "Axe",(if you get the blade grips for the "Axe" or "Lama 3"{EK1-0317} you can use on Blade CX, less expensive/most hobby shops have these parts) blades swashplates/rotorheads as example but beware of motor/gears. Also Micro Heli has some good alum. upgrades that are interchangable.
Good luck-n-happy flights!
