Here is a few of the photos I took 7-27-07 from 1800' above the lava flow at Kilauea/Pu`u `O`o vent flow... Makes the earth look like a different planet!

wow, 1800 feet up? if you had not have sad that, i would have said 18 inches up. the scale of it is amazing. nice pics.

looks like little pieces of gravel, but from 1800ft up, i dont think your zoom is that good

If thats at 1800' that flow must be huge! I'm having a hard time trying to picture a person down just so I can get an idea of how big that really is.

Yes.. the Pilots name was Ray... And yes it was huge!! We flew at 2000' feet on the way there. It was really smooth until we got to the lava flow. Then we started bumping all around from the heat rising off the ground. I asked Ray what altitude we were at and he said 1800' and he didn't want to get any lower for our safety. I shot these photos on a Minolta 7D SLR digital with a 75 to 300 zoom lens with a polorazation lins cover.
