i was flying today, in the late evening, and i was coming round back towards me in backwards flight, fairly far away, when i lost all control, the heli pitched to the left, and no input i made, made a difference, then all of a sudden it kicked back in, by this time it was inverted where it just cut on me, i managed to flick it back upright, where the motor then kicked back in..... then promptly landed.

i thought you didn't get lock outs on 2.4? (at least thats what i am sure it was..

please tell me whats gone wrong?...

i did a range test not too long ago either and the range was good.

The "supposed glitches" involving the Spectrum system that I have read about have been traced back to battery/switch problems or other issues other than the radio system itself......

I hope you find the cause of your problem....

This past weekend I watched an rc airplane controlled by a DX7 lost control and the plane went on a spiral flight to the ground.
Upon investigation, the nitro airplane had digital servos and the battery he was using was a 600mah Ni-cad battery. The battery tested 4.8v but that guy never considered the current draw of the servos while in flight.

I would definitely test that battery to make sure something is not going amiss with it..... not sure how to test the switch other than to look for the obvious....

What I've read is that if your receiver goes below a certain voltage it can cause what you described.....

Check them under the full load that the servos can draw. If it dips down below about 4 volts you are getting to the scary end of things.

I had a lockout with my DX7/AR7000 system in my Swift. It was on my 180th flight. I had never had a glitch or hint of lockout before that.

The guys here on RR tried to tell me that it was low battery or a switch failure. I discharged the battery and had 666 mah of an 1100 mah N/MH pack. I didn't replace the switch. I have 90 flights on it since the lockout without issue.

The guys at the hobby shop told me that I had the old style receiver. These are identified by antennae wires with no heat shrink tubing at the base. They told me if I bought the new receiver (with heat shrink tubing on the antennae) that I wouldn't have the problem. So far, after 100 flights on my two new AR7000 receivers, they have been right.

Your lockout was different than mine though. Mine didn't reconnect. I couldn't get mine to reconnect until I powered off and then back on. Then it worked fine. That receiver is back at Horizon with no word yet from them.

Good luck with your AR7000. I still like the radio despite the one crash that it caused. I figure, by now, someone would have turned on on me, so I'm really about even anyway.

Keep 'em flying.

So if you have the old style rx can you send it in to get updated? or are you suck with having to buy a new one?

Sorry, but I don't know if they will upgrade you to the new style receiver. Mine was damaged in the crash, so I sent it back to them. I haven't received word yet, but the guy at my LHS said that they would probably send me a new receiver. It doesn't really compensate me for the $300 crash, but it's better than a sharp poke in the eye.
