Hey guys had a quick question. I got the 30v2 and bought the 50v2 conversion kit. My question is, it comes with different gearing and it pretty much says try both and see how you like it. Well i really want to know what would be best while i get her tore down. Any help would be appreicated. Thanks, Matt

its easy to swap gearing later, just pop the links of the swash, and undo the botl on the gears and pull the main out and the gearing drops, i like the 50 gearing, although i havent tried the 30 gearing on the 50 engine.

I assume you also have the 50 engine, without it the conversion makes no sense.
If you have the 50 engine I would swap the blades and use the new gearing. Especially if you have the hyper. Without the gear swap, the engine runs too high RPM for my taste. Only keep the 30 gear if you want to run low head speed.

It's not quite that easy since you *have* to change the pinion gear also. If you loctite the pinion onto the bearing then it's more than likely a split the frames in half job. not too bad but more than the 15 minutes to swap the main gear - say 3 hours?

The 9.56 gears that the 30 runs on will result in an 1800 headspeed for the hyper at 17200 RPM (Hyper sweet spot). Probably be almost unboggable but you won't have the snap that some look for. 8.5 gears will be just over 2000 rpm with the same engine speed which will be quite snappy. most people would rather have the extra head speed. I suspect you'll never see the performance potential with the hyper on 9.56 gears and you'd need a governor of some type to keep the engine from overspeeding or be really good at throttle curves and quick/easy on the collective.

anyway there's probably a good reason most everyone runs 8.5-8.7 gears with the 50's. I think the 9.56 gears would be good for some heavy AP work or running a stretched 50 with 680 blades (my plan "some day" )

It's not quite that easy since you *have* to change the pinion gear also
whoops, i forgot about the pinion. so ya, its extremely hard to swap later so change it now!

I prefer the Titan 8.7 gearing over the standard 8.5 gearing.
