Hehe I got to fly one of these things last weekend. It makes stupid power on 3s!

So, ive been doing some runryder research, and the general consensus is for the 1.5y seems like everyone is running 11T pinion correct?

Ive also read, some guys have pre production motors with fans, Where and how did you guys get these?(Im sure there is a waiting list)

What shaft size to get 2.3 or 3.2? I already have like 8 align 3.2 pinions, and I think I have an 11T sitting around here somewhere.

I think my medusa is going south, I have vertical play in the shaft, and you can hear it click. Think the bearings are gone?

I've got the 1107/2y with 2.3 shaft. I think that if you're running 4s, you might want to get the smaller shaft because you can use smaller pinions, like the 9T and 10T. If you're using the 3.2 shaft, the smallest pinion is the Ikarus 10T pinion.

The 1107/2Y i think is the older one and the newer Heli version with the fan will be out soon. If you can't wait, get the 1107/2Y. It still rocks.

Ill be running 3s, and there is a slight chance I will go 4s. But I highly doubt it. Gotta get a new esc and I also assume a bec if I do.

To be honest, one of my TRexes has the 450TH motor, the Align stock ESC and I've run this 4s without an external BEC. no problems. A buddy of mine has also been running 4S with just the stock Align ESC without any problems. Theoretically, you should use an external BEC but you don't have to. Just a thought. Considering an Align 4s 2100 pack is only 69 bucks at GrandRC (and is more than enough to power a 450 because of the low amp draw on 4S), it might be worth a shot. You just need to change the pinion down when running 4s.

You could use that ESC either with or without an external BEC. I usually run an external BEC with my Quark 33A either in 3s and 4s.

If you are using more than ten NiMH/NiCad cells, more than 3 LiPo cells, or your power consumption is excessive, you must disable the BEC and use a separate power source for the receiver. Disable the BEC by cutting or removing the red wire from the servo lead wire on the controller. Do not use the BEC to power other items on your plane such as lights.
Take from the castle website.

So it looks like the esc can hadle 4s applications?

I would say that it can handle it. I haven't had a problem running my Quark 33A on 4s with an external BEC.

Jason:

We are running 1107/1.5y on Beam 402 (450 size) with 12T pinion. My guess on the head speed is 3100-3300 with 3s TP Extreme V2 pack. I am almost tempted to try 13T just to find out where the limit of this motor is.

We get about 4:30 with 12T 100% curve on a 3s 2200. We have 3.2mm shaft.

Interesting. Like I stated above, It was on 11T(pretty sure) and the 450 sounded like it was gonna explode

Then again it might of been a 13T. Ill have to ask him, and I know it was 3s.

Tork, fyi. Don't run the 1107-1.5 on 4s at ALL! please. It won't take it, the Kv is way too high, check the Neu site. That thing is the bomb on 3s and a 13t pinion. Try the new Align gear set and a steel pinion! Also in a bit the F' version will be out and you can get your present motor updated. Also the Evo 2500 25c doesn't weigh much more than the lite version and has serious nutz.
Tom

this is the 1107-2Y-H same case

Good info! So im gonna guess it was a 13T he was running, because it had stupid power!

Yea it has the new Align V2 gearing. Awesome I can get my motor updated, now I just gotta see who has one of these bad boys instock.

Not looking for one right now, need spending money for ircha!

So then the question stands, if I have vertical play in my motor shaft, and it clicks, are the bearings gone?(medusa)

Equations for Motor Gearing

Head Speed = Motor KV x Volts / (Main Gear/Pinion Gear)

1.5 y = 4650 KV x 11.1 volts = 51615/ (150/13t) = 4473 = Insane

/ 150/11T= 3783 still to high

/ 150/10 = 3441 maybe
/ 150/9 = 3097 good

On 4s 4650 kv x 14.8 = 68820 / 150 /13t = 5964 Stupid crazy

2 y on 4s 3400 KV x 14.8 = 50320 / 150/10 = 3354 Perfect great power with 335 blades.

So looks like 2.3mm shaft, with 11T pinion, as I counted on Rays 450. Cool.

Are going to run curves or gov with that Neu? I have the 2Y-F on 4s with a 10t. At 90% it cooks with authority turning 3150+ head speed and I put back around 1amp on fp1800 4s 25c in 5 min. The batts, motor and Jazz are cooler than they used to be with the standard Neu and seems way easier on the batts this way. I'll wind it up on the deck and bury the stick and its gone, no bogging, no bull.
edit: Last I heard was the 1.5y and a 13t on a 25c 3s was the shiz.
