I would like to make a scale Sea king using an XCell 1005 gasser for the frame. Does anyone know if the Century body will fit that?

Thoughts?

Cheers

i know the mechanics will fit. the problem is narowing things down a bit. as far as the air cleaner, you can lose that or find a simpler, smaller way to keep the carb from ingesting foriegn material although in a fuse it isnt as likely. the big issue ais the huge mufflers associated with gassers. Miniature makes one that has a header that routes the pipe towards the rear of the mechs where a muffler is attatched. that would be the best setup. other than that, its a go.

drive a rotary, fly a rotorcraft

Century Seaking with Gasser Mechanics

I tried fitting the gasser mechanics of both Xcell and Vario and found the width too wide once the exhaust manifold was fitted. I also found that the mechanics sat forward which made it difficult to fix the cockpit.

I have since fitted Graupner Heim Uni expert Mechanics with an OS61 and the heli flies beautifully.

Having just spent the last few months building a Sea King, I would advise you to fit the Graupner Uni-2000 mechanics - especially if you want to fit a 5-blade head and a 5/6-blade tail. You will need a 91 motor to swing this combination, and the Uni-2000 mechanics can take the 91 motor and you can also get a range of gears to suit the headspeed you require. Uni-2000 mechanics are very similar to Uni-Expert, but are much better quality. Might be a bit more expensive than you had planned, but you the old adage "buy cheap, buy twice" is turning out to be quite true for me! Good luck with your Sea King, and be sure to keep us posted.

mohanjude, nice to know there is another seaking around. I still have to work on the cockpit. I'm using vario mechanics but not the Century fuselage.
