My GV1 is activated with the gear switch on my radio but when I set the idle limit it was possible to do so without the GV1 switched on. Is that ok or does the gear switch have to be in the on position?

Hi

Once you have set the limits, you can go to the next setup page. This is used to check your limits.....i forget what it is called....

Ok, thanks guys! Also my normal curve has the high point at 75, is that alright as far as the idle limit is concerned? Or does it have to be 100, in which case if I change it after the limit set will it affect the GV1? Thanks!

You need to set your limits such that the High limit is full open throttle [on the throttle barrel] and the Cut limit is full closed [on the throttle barrel].

If you have goofy throttle curves and the like, you can usually side step them. Set the cut limit with throttle down and the cut switch pulled so that the throttle is full closed, and set the High limit in Idle-1 at full stick so you are at full throttle.

If you don't set the high limit to 3/4 open on the barrel, then the GV-1 won't know that there is 25% more throttle available to use.

While you're at it, make sure you've got your throttle linkage setup correctly. Adjust the ball on the servo arm and the throttle arm so that they are the same distance from the center of each arm. Set the length of the pushrod [from center of each ball link] to be the same as the distance between the center of the throttle arm and the center of the servo stud. Set the throttle arm so that it is parallel to the servo arm at 50% throttle and the pushrod is perpendicular to the two arms. If you do that, your throttle ATV should be 100% in both directions to go to full open and full closed. It will give your throttle a consistent feel and will make the GV-1 [or other governor] happy.
