Hi

I'm having trouble starting my OS 50 Hyper when it's still warm. I'm having to wait until the head is cold to touch.

I'm using 20% wildcat with a hatori 521 exhaust and have put through 8 gallons. Is my idle mixture too rich or is this a regular thing?

thanks

What is happening when you try to start it warm? is fuel comming out the backplate? is it turning over but just not catching? are you clamping your fuel line to the carb when you fuel it up? my os hyper starts like a dream, one flick of the starter and its puring, everytime, but as soon as i forget to clamp the carb line for even a second of pumping fuel, it gets flooded.

If the ring is on it's way out, it will exhibit those problems.

My os .50 sxh hyper would do the same thing... i resolved my issue by re-tuning the engine.

If your engine only gets warm... its way to rich...

The sweet spot for my engine was around 190-200F @ the glow plug. May be a little hot, but had gobs of power.

Check your running temps... it will help us determine if your rich/lean or if your rings are headed south :-)

Hi fellas

Thanks for all the info etc..

I'm inclined to think it may be too rich. How long do you guys wait between flights?

If i land and my motor is too hot then yeah i richen it a bit and let it cool before going up again, if it's cool or if it was just the first few mins of a tank as 1st flight of the day then i go straight up again.

Most often i take ten mins to collect my brain again. 8 mins in the air then 10mins to have a break, drink, refuel, check heli, talk etc.

I think your engine sounds rich also. It should really start straight away when it's warm.

OK,the hyper starts fine if I turn the needle right in then open it back out once started. In addition when using wildcat fuel I've noticed a calcium like deposit build up on the plug. Breaks up when crushed between the fingers. Anyone else seen this?

Thanks
