Yes Doug, the remaining unsold copies do go in the "trash." Actually, they get recycled.

At least with R/C Heli, the reviewers are human. The have problems (like the link failing on the TREX 600E), they crash the reveiw birds occasionally, etc. The do report the good with the bad. I have only seen the glowingly positive in other magazines, no matter what the machine is.

In some of the other magazines, every machine is good for beginner and expert alike; can be used as a trainer, but is fantastic at 3D, etc. R/C Heli at least mentions if something is not appropriate for a trainer, or not capable of being much beyond a trainer.

By the way, I don't think I'm a noob, having been at it for 31 years or so with one break. I enjoy the magazine and keep every issue.

There are some things I occasionally disagree with, but people have different experiences and don't have to agree on everything.

Heh. I read this and wondered what the big deal was.

I'm down for the $2500 600N. But there is NO WAY I'm sticking more than $1500 in a Knight. Perfect gear selection. JK.

We wouldn't expect all 40" planes to use exactly the same gear. We wouldn't expect different reviewers to have exactly the same tastes in electronics or flying styles. Thou shalt only use a Hyper, 9252's, and a 401 just isn't the way it works.

Unless it is a shootout format, with a bunch of heli's and a bunch of pilots trying to be overly objective there is no need to be uniform. The scores are just relative to the total possible. There aren't many Hawk Pro's out there that get the same gear as an IMZ, EX or even a lowly 600N. I've always thought the reviewers in this mag did a fair job. Better than some of the fluff out there.

Sorry the heli you love didn't get the ultimate gear. Maybe next time.

Ahh but MY heli did get the ultimate gear. As all my heli's do. This is my only hobby and I set each one up with all the latest. And by the way, if your comparing the Knight 3D to a Hawk Pro that's laughable
I suspect that most guys who are past the hovering stage will outfit there 50 size machines with a little more than a 6EX, no govenor, and 15% fuel. At least thats the case where I fly.

The scores are everything. Just take the 1 and 2 out and just use 3,4,5. There's never been a 1 or 2 rating so why use them? I have sure seen some reviews where a 2 would be earned but it gets a 5 anyway.

Scott, you post these general statements, yet when called upon, you never seem to post anything specific. We've had more than a few "2's" Please show us where something that you and others think a 2 should have been the score, yet it got a 5. Please post. Thanks. I'll check back often.

I noticed something last night that made me laugh. Look at all the pictures of the San Diego funfly in the same issue. Made me laugh after reading this thread.

Actually I like the magazine very much. I have been flying for years and I still enjoy reading it. I actually have learned a couple of things as well.

Well I ended up buying neither helicopter. I did buy a Knight sport though. It should provide more than Iam capable of and is cheap to boot.

Maybe when I get I'll take off the aluminum head parts and send them out to get anodized so it will perform up there with the 600N.

Scott, I hope you know that despite this thread, I think you're a good guy. You've helped me out a lot especially in the beginning with our web board and i appreciate that. However, the word "Align" doesn't prove anything. Yes, they advertise, along with a dozen other helicopter companies. You see a lot of Align in the magazine because a lot of people are buying Align products, and a lot of people want to read about them. Look at the thread counts on this board alone. Before Align I was told that we were "ThunderTiger" biased.

Just a heads up for everyone, Erich Stolz shows our readers how to "Hook-Up" their 600N in the October issue. The conspiracy continues
