rip off britain andno changing it

well due to the weather i have not flown this gyro anymore but i hope to tomorrow.

well i said stay tuned and here is part of the goodies. i had a play with the planned telemetry kit thats due out in future. i have attached a pic below of the application running. basically when you fly the gyro can send data back to a laptop and the software will record your flight or you can get someone to watch it realtime while you try certain things. you can check piro consistancy and tweak it if you feel need to and if there is bounce in the stops etc it will show up and you can adjust as necessary. the range is 100 meters which should be plenty for this.

below is me just sitting wagging the heli back and forth.

rudder demand (red trace), actual yaw (yellow trace) and tail pitch (blue trace). the red and yellow trace show deg/sec
the blue trace shows uSec (servo pulse width)

as i mentioned before you can update the gyro from home and here is a pic of the little application.

Well, I have so far had about 3 gallons trying this gyro out, without much success
I have tried numerous different mounts, servos arm lengths, two different helis, mounting positions etc etc etc, even changed the engine in one heli incase there may have been a vibe issue naked to the eye.
I can honestly see huge potential in this gyro if I could only get the gain up to around the 60% + mark, which is where I see the piro consistency coming into its own, but the best gain I have managed to get so far is 53% and then I still can get the tail to loose control.

I have PM'd Spartan but as yet I have no response so I am clueless where to go at the moment with this gyro, other than slap the CSM back in ??

Any help appreciated.
Thanks,
Ryan

alright dokey,

what to do is send the gyro back to spartan. there has been a couple of changes since the pre-production units we were sent. i got mine yesterday and they flew fine on a synergy, trex 450. the trex nitro it seems picky on the gain as we found already. the 450 needs a tweak as one of the stops are a bit lax for my liking. upped the stop gain on that side and it's fine now.

another guy in the club bought a spartan as he was tired of the csm/611 and it was lick and stick on his synergy aswell. was so impressed ordered another 2 after 2 flights with it.

i do know barney has just got one up north from me and he is going to try it on his trex nitro which i'm very interested to hear how he gets on with it in that heli. i have not told barney anything on how i mounted mine to see how he faired with the lick and stick method.

cheers

Raptorheli's right, Dokey. I'll email Angelos and make sure he knows about your situation. I know they're very busy right now as the large production batch recently arrived for assembly/testing/tweeking or what ever it is they have to do with these.

I've got a production unit on my Trex 600 and it's performing very well. I've heard the same from the stateside pilots I've spoken with, as well.

im very impressed with mine. its as good as a 611 out of the box but has better piro consistancy.

im experimenting with different horn lengths to see what if any difference that makes. no real need just for the sake of seeing what happens!

dokey, have you plugged yours in? what end point values do you have in the gyro?

I've plugged mine in but I don't know that anything I'd change would make it better.

Hi Ade,

I have nothing to plug it into unfortunately
All I can do at the moment is wait until 3D championships to meet up with Angelos, and see what happens then.

Thanks,
Ryan
