The Align aluminum fan even has the fins facing in the right direction. The GF LE fan is for alaska and canada and the HE fan is for warmer climates. The GF fan is also for heli's that run too smooth.

So is the new Align aluminum fan worth the $19.99?

Sorry, I'm just trying to do the research on a possible 600N purchase and have read that the stock plastic fan is a sore spot for some...

So I should shell out $600 for a 600N then shell out another $20 for a fan that should have been right to begin with.

Bracing myself for the onslaught.

No. If you spend that extra $20 you'll be broke. Don't do it.

You would want to wait a while and get V2 which will have all the issues fixed.V1 kits usually have problems.

Three choices

#1 Buy it now, buy the fan and fly it.
#2 Wait for V2 and buy it and fly it.
#3 Get a new hobby since every heli ever introduced has had teething pains and for an entirely new nitro heli to have two major issues, the fan and the one way bearing being it, we are doing pretty good.

I've owned Align products in the past. This is just my opinion but to be me it looks like the same story. Get the product out there, put numerous updates, upgrades and basically fix it on the fly instead of trying to get it right in the first place. Granted only mass production will expose flaws that need to be addressed but fans are nothing new to helicopters. The 600N's fan is reverse than just about every other machines, but they should not be too difficult to engineer or produce. To me it would be like getting the motor mount wrong and then offering an upgrade. I guess I have difficulty with the fanaticism of the whole thing. Let's spend a crapload of money on something and before I assemble it I have to put upgrades into core parts of the machine that should have been right to begin with and then rave about it.

I have no problems with bling. I have no problems with buying a cool aluminum billet fan that may or may not improve the cooling of the engine. I have no problems in people having the ability to alter the flying characteristics to suite their style by changing out parts on the machine, example: something as simple as dampers in the head. But it sounds like the luck of the draw if you get a decent fan or not included in your kit. I don't think it's too much to ask to get a good fan after spending all the money you spend on the kit and if you don't have a good fan, not having to jump through hoops to get one. Two people come to mind when it comes to making things right..... John Beech and Jeff Green.

Don't forget this is the place where people come and talk about their problems and very vocally at times. Many people aren't having any problems with the product including me. I have changed parts from stock but not because I ever had any problems with them. I've seen beech's plastic helis and they look and feel like a joke not to mention over weight. I suspect if he sold as many as align he'd be having his share of problems too if he isn't already.

So who do you call at Align if you do have a problem? Who is actually going to listen?
And you are talking apples and oranges. Yes may be a little heavier (3 to 4 oz)but also about $100 cheaper for a set of frames when the big ouch happens.

Keep dreaming.

Why do audacity fanboys who have no intention of buying align come over here and rag?

I stated the obvious about the fan. How is that ragging?

I'm also JR, and Hirobo so what makes you think I'm a fanboy of Audacity?

You can't be serious

Come on I fly with you several times a year and you are a level headed guy. You are nit picking Align while flying a Tiger and Pantera I have seen the growing pains of both, you state flying for 30 years, you surely have to remember Raptor tail blades flying off, a spindle so weak it would bend and send blades out of track on it's own, thrown clutch shoes, broken plastic head blocks. Xcell tailbox failures, Freya frames as brittle as a gram crackers, OS .50 bearings, etc... no one has gotten it right first try. Not to mention you keep mentioning 600 dollars, if you are comparing it you need to say 380 dollars for a belt driven plastic canopy heli. This goes back to my post of having three options. Rememeber you are reading the failures, you also need to realize that this is the most advanced flying machince out of the box in the 50 class yet. I have a feeling if it had the performance of the "other 50's" issues like dampers, one way lockups, and fan speed loads would be much less and less prone to failure. It has been out 2 months and the new kits have the tighter sleeve one way and also the harder plastic fan, as for the dampers they fly loose but don't seem to make that big a difference. Others have taken years to fix issues. I would say if you can't accept these issues from an RC toy then you should not buy a TRex. Any issues with the last house you bought? How about an American car, "mine almost burned to the ground for a cruise control issue"? Think about what you are recieving for 400 bucks and I am sure you have seen what it is capable of.

Ok every machine has teething problems. Audacity along with Hirobo, TT, MA, JR etc., all have their issues when they are released.

What I should have said is that it seems to ME that instead of addressing the problem of the plastic fan, Align releases an upgraded aluminum fan. To me it seems to be sidestepping the fan issue entirely and producing an upgraded part that is sold seperately to make more money for them and not correct the issue with the part supplied with the kit.

Please correct me on this timeframe if I am wrong, but to me it looks like the 600N has been out for about 4 months now. To me, and remember this is JUST my opinion, it takes a while to get something like this to market. From design to testing to tooling, etc. How long was Align working on the 600N prior to it's release? Maybe a year or more? Someone reading this may know. To me they must have known of possible fan issues if they are releasing a fan upgrade just 4 months after they released the heli because of the time it takes to design, test and tool for the new fan.

Here is another thing that you may find shocking. I like the 600N. I think it looks like damn nice machine. I just don't like how Align does business. As I said before, I have owned Align products.

Remember this is just my opinion and nothing more.

At the end of the day it's still just a hobby and supposed to be fun so I do apologize for any feathers I've ruffled.

**Heh** Just remember that they started out as a vacuum cleaner company, so it would not be out of line to say that a lot of their products and support suck!
