I agree with that...Conservatism has always been a futile attempt to justify childish selfishness...
LoulnSD, Only a really feeble mind could read that statement and come to the conclusion that you did.

regarding udumpru...
All is relative...If you are the big dog, the big dog you must remain..The Idea of using force to maintain our way of life is the base definition of Fascism...Nothing wrong with it..Animals do it all the time, and we ARE animals, no more, no less..
Remember what the German infantry had engraved on their belt buckles...Gott mit uns...From their perspective, we were the bad guys...Why overcomplicate things?

I have a friend whose grandmother is German, she has never left Germany and never intends to. And to this day holds a grudge against the US for WWII. So yes, it is a matter of perspective. And I certainly would agree that Fascism is a much better term for those in power than Conservative, there is nothing Conservative about it.

The question is are we going to have a leader step forward who will face the issue and attack it head on and end this before that becomes the death of us all. Someone who isnt going to name Norm Minetta as transportation sec. and pretend like little old ladies and Al Gore are the ones trying to kill people.

There is no irony in my post. You obviously believe "its not fascism if I do it" just as the nazis did half a century ago. The nazi's also believed in pre-emptive war too just as our "beloved leader" does now. the majority of the world also opposed the nazis just as most of the world now opposes our actions in the middle east. The powers that were appeased the nazis too much just as the powers that be now are appeasing us and letting us have our way for now.

How long until the world wakes up and realizes what the US has become?

The age of imperialism is over and this country's leaders have yet to realize that simple fact.

Stupidity can be cured. Ignorance is for life!

Obviously I know what you meant by that statement but I just don't buy into your reasoning. (I don't know if YOU know what you mean though) I do however believe that conservatism/neo-fascism is largely based in emotion. How else do we explain the use of propaganda in this country and statements like "You're with us or with the terr'ists"..."We're fightin 'em over there so we don't have ta fight 'em over here"..."Were gonna give ya back some of YOUR money!"

Total BS statements that are used to appeal to childish emotions in people. Anyone who is able to use logic and reason doesnt fall for those ridiculous slogans.

Again, conservatism has always been a vain attempt to justify childish selfishness...

As J.S. Mill said, not all conservatives are stupid people. The people who push conservatism because it serves their interests have to use catchy slogans and appeals to emotion to convince the rest of us that it is also in our best interest to be conservative.

Only stupid people fall for it...

No Lou,
You don't understand... I hope that someday your mind opens up and you can see what conservatives really are I'm not referring to politicians that call themselves conservatives, because there are only four real conservatives in congress. The rest of them are just giving us more spending, more war and more taxes. At the same time, they are taking our constitution apart and taking more freedom away from us.

You see anything right wing as faciast yet you have no problem with left wing propaganda. You don't even see it as propaganda. You just accept it as truth. At the same time, you just bash everything right wing and call us selfish, childish and facist. You don't see the hipocracy there? Oh well, I'm going to move on now, because you are a lost cause.

1stplace, I studied political science for many years and have a degree in it. I come from a family that has been active in politics for at least 3 generations. I know what a conservative is. It's usually someone who just doesn't know any better.

I do agree with you though on the current batch of cons in there. They are extremist religious wackos who don't believe in the separation of church and state or the Constitution.

But then Barry Goldwater warned us about them along time ago...

http://www.theocracywatch.org/taking_over.htm#Happened

The voting public in this country who call themselves conservative fell for it...

Which leads me back to my original point, most stupid people are conservative...

Anyone who has studied history and the founders knows that they studied the great thinkers who warned that combining church and state would be detrimental to both.

You may be happy that your brand of phony christianity is being represented and forced upon all of us right now but as soon as someone with a different belief system gets in to the WH your right to worship may be in serious danger. Thats what happens when you tear down that wall. It not only protects us from religious extremist bigots like Bush but it protects religious people from those who might want to take their religious freedoms.

Get it now Einstein???

just because the word "separation" is not in there doesnt mean anything...

You see, that's why people go to school, so they all have the same frame of reference and understand why things are the way they are...instead of just pulling things out of their ass and calling it truth...

Well then maybe Obama, Hillary and Bill, Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, and the rest of the Democrats that campaign in churches on a regular basis should stay the hell out of those churches... Just more Democratic hypocrisy

The claim of "red state welfare queens" is just a Democrat spin. In the red states, the vast majority of welfare money is consumed by large cities that vote mostly Democrat, not the suburbs and smaller cities that typically vote Republican.

We really should stop the Democrat Vs. Republican and Liberal Vs. Conservative debates and do what must be done. Take our government back from the socialists and faciasts that are suppose to represent us. They are there to line their pockets and control us. A good start would be to not vote for anyone who is or has been in the skull and bones society.
The fact of the matter is, money is power. Families like the Bushes, Clintons, Kerry-Hines, Rockefellers, ect. have the money to stomp out the best candidates and do it during every election cycle.

Yeah, thats what I thought. Avoid the real question because we both know what the real answer is. Its not there because though they did not want government to control religion, they realized that it played an important role in society. The lack of government control of religion is what this country was founded on, freedom to worship as each man saw fit. That did not mean that religion was excluded from government. And since you wont answer the question directly dazzle us all with your higher education and tell everyone where it came from to begin with.

And I would love to hear your justification for this statement.
You may be happy that your brand of phony christianity is being represented and forced upon all of us right now
