8 volts on Beast's heli

OK I am late on this, but from what I have heard and read... Some are running a 7.4v Lipo unregulated direct into the Spektrum RX ?
Nothing is burning up (gov, servos)? Which Rx, the 9000, 7000? how is the gyro getting power?

if any of you have anything on this I would like to know more about this.

Maybe SWAT was using this and it fried the electronics causing it to fail on take off?

if you see the pilot running....try to keep up!

Tony:

5.1v-5.4v regulator is needed for the tail servo or tail servo + gyro. The rest of the system can handle 8.4v.

I have been running 8.4v on my airplanes servos ( hitec 5955TG) for past 2 years.

8 volts

I am running the new TP 7.4volt 3400mAh 2S2PR pack, and the fromco adjustable regulator. What I did was take my 5.3 volt duralite regulator and used that to go in between my Gyro and the Gyro servo instead of using just a resistor/stepdown. Almost the same setup Alan is using but his may be a switched regulator. Just remember when you run the higher voltage the number of flights you get out of one of those packs will be less.

I thought the Gyro could not handle the higher voltage along with the servo? The reason for the multi voltage regulator.
I am using the Reactor on one helis and it sure does make a difference, also my airplanes use unregulated 6 volt with no issues at all (not the high 8.4 like Benny)
While on this subject... would you guys trust the cheap MPI regulator on the gyro? They seem the same as the duralite but at less than half the price.

We should have another gathering so we can check all this out, we do'nt really mind the drive.

if you see the pilot running....try to keep up!

I use the MPI reg on my Raptor 50. One thing I do to them is remove the shrink wrap, fill the edges and around the cap with silicone, and re-wrap it with a sealing heat shrink (got it from the boat yard I used to work at). I haven't had any problems since I started doing that.

The most successful people are those who are good at plan B.

Voltage

The gyro itself can handle 6 volts no problem its the gyro servo that can't handle anything more then 5.3 volts from what I understand and I have no problems with my setup. In fact when I change my fromco jumper pins to 6.25 volts it will also display the voltage on the gyro amp during the initial powering up of the gyro. I am not familiar with the MPI regulator so I can't comment on it but the Duralite regulator seems to work fine for me, I figured what the heck it has to be better then just a resistor or a stepdown since it is an actual regulator it will keep the voltage going to the gyro servo consistant. IMHO 2 regulators is the way to go.

and dont be fooled by the lack of helis on the website. we are taking over the field and the old guys just cant accept it so they dont give us any coverage on the site, hehehe.
