Hi

I have been running the webra 91 for a little while on my millie (with the new robbe clutch and gear set) with a speed controller and an hatori 700 pipe. I have used a tacho and been running the head around 1650-1700 but it just seems a little slow to me.

Just interested in what sort of head speeds you guys are pulling - I did blast it up to 1800 and it climbs like crazy but still seemed really smooth and showed no signs of over heating etc

I have the pipe set at 460mm.

Cheers

Hi,
the 91AAR wants too run:

with the 16 tooth pinion (7,5:1)you need ~ 1850 -2000 on the Head to get fun. I flow a 14 tooth (8,5:1) and the rotorspeed is 1550. ==> Engine 13500

You can speed up the Webra to 18000, but the best power is at 13500-16000

You can get other pinions at http://www.hobbycopter.de

Hi

Thanks for those points, I use the robbe gear set 7.5:1 and was running at about 1650, I think I will up the head speed to 1750-1800 and see how she goes.

Cheers

Choppersock,

i have an almost identical setup as you:

Millie
Webra 91
Hatori Pipe (set460mm)

I found playing with governor speeds that the webra runs smoothest with 1800 on the head (engine 13500 rpm 7.5 gear ratio).

I am running CP 15% and F7 plug, what about you ??

Hi

Just to double up what others have already said the Webra 91 is very happy at around 13500 rpm, mine has enough power to put a smile on my face every time I fly it, I am also running the Robbe 7.5 to 1 set up so have a head speed of 1800, well 1820 actually at the weekend, althoug this is faster than I used to run the model at I find it is so fast and pulls so much pitch that you need this extra head speed to stop the model becoming pitchy in FFF.
The engine just purrs, all I need now is for Webra to come across with another couple of them for my other Mills and I will be a happy bunny.

BTW there's a report on the 91 and other stuff on the Skyline website.

Best regards

My Webra 91 is swinging 800 mm blades (Robbe Cuatro) and I am limiting my top headspeed to 1650 (GV-1 setting). If I remember correctly, my gear ratio is 8.89 which puts my engine at 14,668.

The engine can easily do 1800 but I am erring on the side of safety and limiting the max headspeed to 1650. There is an awful lot of energy in those big blades at 1800 headspeed.

Enya 3; Coolpower 5%; header tank; large fuel tubing.

Hi, Yeap same here for fuel but an OSA5 plug. Seems to work fine.

Will be upping the head speed this weekend thats for sure..

Have had good results on the plug as far as I can tell.

gv1 or Robbe speed controller. I have been using the Robbe one which was fine till the senor crapped out. Luckily no damage as fell back to normal curves.

cheers

i fly the webra 91 in my futury nova with the 8,5 gear, set the pipe on 43cm and get a headspeed of 2020 rpm with 7% nitro in fuel. this combination works great since a half year

That's that's a lot of revs for a 90 sized engine, I don't doubt that it produces lots of power at that speed but I would think you are right past the peak torque of the engine, have you tried running it slower?
I don't have Webra's specs for the 91 to hand but your running it at over 17'000 rpm, I would like to see that but only if I can hide behind something
I know the Swiss guy Hans Amernagger (not the correct spelling) runs a high head speed on his Nova but I am sure his engine speed is lower than that.
I presume you don't have a problem with vibration, I think the OS91 would shake the model to pieces at that speed.

I am tempted to try my W91 at a higher RPM but it is so nice as it is I don't want to do anything that will increase noise or vibration.

Best regards

I tried the cuatro yesterday at governed 1800 rpm (8.88:1 ratio) with Razors 800mm on.
That`s around 16000 engine rpm
Heli doesn`t like it but Webra has sawn no signs of discomfort.
I run 1320 in the hover and 1720 for aerobatics.
Webra runs smoooooth all the way, with full or near empty tank.

after the weekend
well thanks for all your input.

I have indeed increased the head speed to 1800 on the head and the heli is transformed. Climbs like a bullet.

Just for once the robbe speed controller worked all weekend and I was using the new pipe length I set of 460 on the hatori 700.

Thanks again

Off to fit one in the 3DNT

cheers

Vagpas,
My experience exactly. My Cuatro doesn't like a headspeed that high either. I am running 1650 in idle up 2, 1500 in idle up one with the GV-1.
Hover is around 1400. The Webra just purrs nicely throughout those speeds without breaking a sweat.

I just ordered an MC Carb. Let's see how that works!
