still raining with temps around 0°C.

i went with a local biologist into a 130 year old ice chamber were they used to store ice for the summer.

over the winter they now have a small population of endangered bat´s hibernating there.

no camera flash allowed because it would wake up the little batmans.

and i did´nt bring a tripod. so i had to freehand it with some flashlight ilumination.

"How cold are running your Joker cameraship? Coldest?"

Yesterday and today are around 20F which is no big deal.
Can go without a tx mitt if I'm standing in the sun.

One of the side effects of High Pressure (clear skies) is cold temps.
Single digits can be a drag, but it doesn't stop us from getting the job done. Just take your time and make sure the voltage is up.
Store extra camera/tx/rx batteries in a pocket next to your body.

Personal lowest was something like -12F raw in Minnesota a few years back.

Cheers,

WOW!

I was under the impression that the electronics in our e-helis would not operate correctly if we were in the COLD like 0F and below...

So the Motor, ESC, Gyro, and servos all have no issues... wow..

thus far my record was 5°f at tahoe, i couldn't even tell a difference(joker was warm in the car) and i only do 10 min flights, so i was still safe.

though all my morning shots are done in th high teens- mid 20's.

i definitely agree with jeff on the extra tx/rx packs though.

I like flying in the cold.. The motor, Bat, and esc heat right up and stay plenty warm but I never worry about getting hot.. This was taken in about -2* temps..

Sorry if it's a little big (made it a link now) Seems my recently put in service,
crushed C-8080 doesn't like colors too much. This was taken with
Sat +2, EV-0.7, Shutter priority 1/1250, ISO 64. What do you all think
about saturation in this one, should I upp it to Sat +3? My point
and shoot temp cam was too colorful, don't really mind the colorless
photos too much, a little more natural I guess, or maybe people are just stingy
on the grass fertilizer this time of year.

Thanks Ian,

"The Queen Mary 2 is so big it will not fit through the Panama Canal: It is sailing from Fort Lauderdale, Fla., to San Francisco around Cape Horn, the tip of South America."

Wow some great shots since I last looked.

Travis : great work - I bet you don't get those kind of opportunities too often.

Jeff, that firework picture took my breath away. How many shots did you need to get that right one ?.

I've been practising some more with panos. This time of year sucks because the sun is always low in the sky. I think this is about as good as I'm going to get with my Sony V3 until summer comes.

This is from Sunday:

We have the possibility of some substantial snow towards the end of this week - so the LiPos are charged and waiting ....

The camara was mounted to terra firma (4 sec exposure) so motion blur wasn't an issue. Plus I can bring a few adult beverages along since I'm not flying. However, with capturing light you are cursed with the number of fireworks exploding during your exposure and how bright they are.

Holly double WOW!

John, your panoramic photos are simply moving! You guys set the bar extreemly high for us mortals.

Jeff, as usual the photos that you post make and break my day. Some if not the nicest that I have seen. I dream to one day see something half the quality come out of one of my camera.

Thanks,

As usual you are too kind. I am really cutting my teeth on some of the new stuff that you guys are doing. That extra 10-30% really has a steep curve. I am enjoying the challenge, but look forward to breaking more headway.

Keep up the great work everyone. You guys are an inspiration to us all.

Thanks,
