Hi Ian,

The way I look at it is that most of our helicam images use wide angle lenses, so I might as well take advantage of our glass with the full frame sensors.

In regards to sharpness I'm inclined to say that your image sharpness is more dependent on your lens. (providing your focus system nails it on the head everytime)

Oh yeah baby,
Jeff I notice a difference. Those look finer in contrast and definition than your 20D shots.
Looks just like the stuff we get out of the 1Ds.

So how much "wrenching" did you have to do to that mount?
What was difficult about it? Width, height, etc...
I think my GMI mount is bigger than your 30 sized Airfoil though.....

Ha!

I know lots of practice right?
I think he told me he flew 30 gallons of CP30 one year and that was just for the Fury.
You guys should see him fly if you haven't.
Baby butt smooth is not even good enough.

That will be a 20 or at least a couple beers next time I see you.

Jeff,
Nice shot! I love the colors! I would think it would be much easier to compare (20D vs. 5D) with the full res shot. Kinda hard to compare from a "saved for web" shot. Is the 5D that much different in dimensions than the 20D? What kind of mods did you have to do to get it to fit?

Torsten,
Nice balloon pic!!!

Dan,
He pretty much politely asked me to remove them. The engineering firm that designed the water purification system hired us to shoot the pictures. I had spoken with the gentleman at the power plant prior to us doing the shoot because we had to watch an "orientation/safety" DVD prior to doing the shoot. He had seen our website before we arrived and complimented us on our photos. After I posted the water purification photos on our site, I called him and left a voice message to let him know we had some out there if he was interested in viewing them. The next morning I received his phone call requesting we remove them. It really makes no difference to me if the photos are on our site or not. He expressed interest in them for their own purposes and who knows, maybe they'll hire us in the future. Don't want to burn any bridges or ruffle any feathers or bunch any drawers!

Homeland Security

Tony,
They are probably concerned with security.
They are listing water systems as high risk targets these days.

STOP IT!

Jeff your killing me!
The FOV from that is just AWESOME and the resolution is better.
I can see such a difference on my monitors from that chip over the 20D.

Going to snag that RR shot and try some perspective correction on it just to see how it comes out.

Ok not enough to work with so what was the original like.
You must have cropped and perspective corrected that a bit already.

aambrose,

"Is the 5D that much different in dimensions than the 20D? What kind of mods did you have to do to get it to fit?"

5D is wider and a tad heavier. Vertical mount needed more depth for clearance past 30 degreees down and re-balance. Landscape mount needed a whole new frame and re-balance. I'm also using a CV-1 and a kx-161 camera through the eye piece for framing which requires a bit more wire plumbing.

Jason,

I had to crop out the skids on #3470.
I'm going to need another mount for the 14L and 15 fisheye for landscape format.

Hutch964,

"But I will have 1 of these puppies EOS 5D !"

Stock up on flash cards. Raw files are averaging around 13M.

Hey Jeff try one with a 17 if you have one.

Steve and I were just talking last night about it.
He has the 17-40 zoom and it would be interesting to see how it looks.

Did you have to re-balance for CG or just the stability of the mount?

If so what did you have to do to balance that thing?

Also what size lens are you using on the KX?

Nice colors Tony!

Jason,
"Did you have to re-balance for CG or just the stability of the mount?"

Had to do both.

Here is a shot that was made from roughly 30ft above the ground.

Ethan,
Interesting construction views! What's it gonna be?

The weekend weather was perfect! Shot a load of video Saturday but here are a few stills.

Jeff,
That second shot is really nice! Is it generally calm between ridges like that or do you get funky winds coming down?
