jg,
i got into the habit of waking up at 5 am just so i wouldnt get to hot! the reason the fog rolls in that is because it is a strange sub climate, it is usually 10 degrees hotter than any where else, so in the summer i would get up at 5 am just to not burn up!(it is usually about 75 or so at 5 am in summer)

load factor, great photo of the vinyard
http://www.sonoma.com/ theres a link to info about the wine country here, i still think it would be a great place for a helicam event.

and patrick, were you at the october fly in sacromento?

Wow, great photos everyone!

Tanner-Nice shots! I never thought of Texas as a wine state!

Jeff, awesome travel setup, love to see the TSA officers face when they pop that thing open! Nice B/W conversion on the barn, shingles look really cool

Bell-Great morning shots man! Just beautifull

PB-What can I say, you are a natural!

I am jealous guys, both my ships are down with stupid maintenance issues. Only thing that flys is my Trex, guess I could try and do a Micro heli AP ship

bell.....thanks for the link. Great pictures by the way! I'm going to go out on a limb and set up a booth next month for the TWGGA (Texas Wine and Grape Growers Assoc.) marketing event. Had a good time shooting the Winery....might as well spread it to the rest of them.

Tabb....Texas is the largest consumer of wine......It's just hard to grow the perfect grape in this climate. I'm sure there is a mixing of the grapes in there somewhere. It's still trying to take off and hard to compete with the vinyards of Cali.

PB....... those are great pics! I wish we had a few of those tall things in the background!

Jeff.......How hard did you cringe when the case slid down the belt, and did they leave you a letter inside?

Jeff,
The tide can be up to 5 feet higher. The inlet tides are throttled by the Skookumchuk rapids 40 miles away. Two ebbs and two flows per day. Some get an extreem rating and can (and have) swallowed a 20 foot boat.

The kayakers love the ebb tides, a little more managable with big rolling waves.

On my list of locations this summer with the heli.

Hi Patrick,
I'm off to UPS after work to grab the goods!
Thank you again!

Chris,

That's a beautiful play wave!

Locally we have the SuperWave.

Perfect eddy fed play spot, and perfect launch pad on the shore :-)

Tanner,
"How hard did you cringe when the case slid down the belt, and did they leave you a letter inside?"

No issues with the heli case, but they did leave a TSA note in another bag that had dirty clothes and a couple chargers in it.

Cheers,
Jeff

Here is a quick test flight with a Sigma 14mm/f2.8 that I just picked up.
I was curious how soft it gets in the corners before a few jobs this evening.

Nice Jeff, the 14 looks really nice in portrait format.

I am impressed with the corner sharpness!

Does this mean you decided not to refinance the house and get the Canon 14mm L lens?

I feel both the Sigma and Canon are comparable on the 20D. Plus I found a great buy on Ebay for the Sigma so it was $460 versus eating the Canon's $1750.

I'm sure the performance will be a completely different story on a 1.0x multiplier dSLR.

Cheers,
Jeff

Jeff,

Beautiful!

I'd get the Sigma over the Canon as well. I had thought you bought a Canon. I was actually going to buy the Sigma because for the money and quality.

I will definitely get the Sigma now (14mm 2.8) after your post. They're hard to find thought (I think).
