Stock esc can not do over 6S.

...Once upon a time there were Nitros, flybars and frequency pins...

I know what the specs say. Just wondering if anyone actually tried it.

Do you know if the 600XL can take it?

Thanks,
Art K.

The ESC can NOT take it, nor can the motor, the specs are accurate I can assure you of this. This is not something you want to try to prove unless you are careless and have money to blow. Motors, and escs are designed around voltage limitations as well as rpm limitations. With the higher voltage you WILL exceed one of those two parameters.

I do not plan on trying it unless I hear from others who have.

The ESC is rated to 25v not 22. The motor is rated to 22.2 volts. The Motor is not at 22.2 volts all the time either. I am just asking the question.

The motor isnt really the issue. Im sure it would handle 8 cells fine however you would need at least an 8T pinion to get your headspeed down to where you need it so thats the first smaller issue.

8 x 3.7 = 29.6 x 1620 = 47952 / 170 = 287.0705 x 8 = 2256rpm

The bigger issue is the ESC. Its rated for 25v because lipos when fully charged are 4.2v per cell. 6 x 4.2 = 25.2 volts If you tried 8 cells that would be 33.6v to the esc when you hook up a fresh pack.

I havent tried it but simply doing the math beforehand will tell you its not really doable.

I agree, its probably not very doable, I am just asking the question.

Yep I guess an 8t pinion does not exist at the moment at that size?
Its just that XL motor is nice and running 8s seems to be a very good place to be. Cooler batteries and more pop, you don't need the same C rating in the packs so they can be lighter. Just wondering??? A new 8S setup will run me close to 800 dollars between the neu motor two 4s packs and a CC85V ESC.

ArtK, 8S was tried with the 600L and a CC HV-110 on a different heli which allowed larger pinions due to the main gear size (I cant saw which heli sorry). Anyway the motor burned up 1 minute into the first flight. It cant handle 8S no matter what the pinion.

I tried 7s in my TREX600 for several flight without any problem but higher head speed. Needless to say with an HV ESC

So 7S works on the motor? Which one?

Chiu,
What 7S are you running? How many amps?

Are you still running it? With a 10T I take it.

Are you running the XL Motor?

Thanks,
