I fly three sets of the QUICK UK landing gear. They are super strong and look GREAT. They have a nice selection of colors to choose from.

Or try painting the ones you have yourself...the Krylon Fusion spraypaint works well and comes in a variety of colors.

I painted several of my skids and canopies with the Krylon Fusion paint. It is a special paint for plastics. I did of course mildly sand down and wipe clean before spray and it works and looks fine.

Gear

I got mine from Rick's, they are Quik brand. I have a pic in my gallery that shows the lime green one on one of my Raptor's.

Krylon Fusion paint will stick, sort-of, but the first time fuel hits it, it runs off.

As for dying them, I have never had any luck with the TT skids. I have tried to dye a few like I dyed the other parts black. I ended up with woodgrain skids.

Take a close look at these ugly things. Boiled in black rit dye for 45 minutes????

LMAO. Looks like a dark cherry or maybe walnut? You should do up a woodie canopy to match.

I had GREAT results with the dye on my skids. I would use the liquid (not the powder) and use the whole bottle to a pot of water. If you are doing a color other than black, only use what you need to tint the color just SLIGHTLY lighter than what you want.

Whiel we are on this topic, has anyone else come across the issue that the pre-drilled holes for the Quick UK landing gear don't line up with 50 frames? I found mine were about 7mm out which was a pain in the ass given I could re-drill evenly.

You'll find that the QUK skids are not heli specific and will need re-drilling on most applications. But lets face it, drilling 4 little holes is hardly rocket science is it?

Drilling the holes is not a problem. But when you have holes that are reqired to be 57mm apart and they are drilled at 52mm you aren't going to be able to drill additional holes evenly without just extending the orginal holes (thereby creating slack). The only option is to drill off centre which is not ideal. I would have preferred it if they were not pre-drilled if they are going to make them non-heli specific.

The trick is to use M3 socket head bolts and lock washers rather than the screws that come in the kit. After you have slotted the existing holes in the new gear, use the same cone washers that are used in the engine mount below the skids. Works like a charm and super strong.
