Hi All,

So I positioned my logo 10 on my lawn, spooled her up, hovered/hopped once or twice, nothing hard, then I saw the my carbon fiber pushrod on the ground. The servo end snapped at the metal rod???

The remaining piece I wiggled with my pliers 40 times before it broke so how did my pushrod snap????

Anyway, I'm looking to fabricate another carbon fiber pushrod out of a logo 14 boom support rod and I need to know how long it is...Just the carbon fiber rod not end to end on the ball links...

Mine is 420mm so I need something close....Also, is the rod hollow?

Thanks

Hi Patch,

So, you are using a CF rod from the tail servo to the rudder bellcrank right? If it broke off I would guess you have some vibrations that made the rod swing up and down (resonance) until it broke. If you have your tail servo mounted in the frame you may be better off with the original steel rod?

I couldn't imagin a vibration strong enough to snap a tail rod like this, since most of the shaft is in the rod and the 1/4" of it is exposed out front.....

Really not sure how it happened...

Still looking for the length of the rod.....and if it's hollow..

lt wouldn`t have to be a major vibe. Resonance at the right note could break much thicker rod than that. They usually go at the end of the threaded part. Or it could have been weak there for some reason but as Lorents said, you dont need carbon push rod on logo anyway.

That was my original thought...to mount it back to it's original spot, but, once I mount it there, it will push my 13 cell battery way up front where half the battery is hanging....The battery wires crunch up inside the canopy and my balance is alittle nose heavy...

My concern is the battery wires.....I could put my gyro back on the boom which might balance it better, but I'm concerned with the battery wires.

Umm see your point.
The carbon boom stays on my 14 are 17in long if that helps but you can buy carbon tube in the size you want.

Thanks Tosh,

I was going to by carbon tubes, but the ones I saw are the same price as the logo 14 boom support kit which includes everything, and you can make 2 rods.

I more question off the topic...I recently went with a berg 7 receiver which operates in PPM mode only, so I switched my JR 6102 to PPM. Everything works including the tail rudder....My tail rudder servo is a JR S8700G, and on the JR site it says:

8700G Ultra-Speed Gyro MG Servo 4.8v/PCM Only

That "PCM only" gets me.....Are they saying it won't work on PPM mode? Because mine operates normal from what I can see.

Thanks

Not sure but l think the 8700 is a noisy servo and likly to cause glitching on ppm.

I use a metal tail rod. Carbons just too hard to attach by glue. Always seems to break loose at one time or another.
