I've recently bought two rx lipo packs from flight power and two 5.3v regulators from duralite. Since I'm using futaba gyros is the 5.3 regulator ok for them?

5.3volts should be fine, as thats about the voltage of a freshly charged 4 cell NiCd pack.

Dr. Lodge...

What's the highest voltage that the Futaba gyros and servos (9253,9254) will take with out blowing out? I know that 6 volts is out, but there has to be a max voltage that they will take and keep working.

I'm not sure, I would think 5.4 volts max for the gyro. The servos can take higher voltage, probably up to the 5.8 or 6.0 volt mark.

Other way round, the gyro will take 6, the servo won't

So 9252's should be ok with the 5.3v regulator?

5.3 is fine. 6v regulated is ok but I'd run a step down on the tail servo.

I've got a 9254 servo on the throttle, should I turn down the voltage from 6 volts? Maybe 5.7 would be wiser...?

You really want 5.4 tops for a S9254
