hey guys....

is it possible to do this: hack the original blade cp (not pro) 4-in-1 to accept a gyro? i feel that it might be as i know there are two extra channel pins hiding in the back of the receiver area, I'm just not sure how.

has anyone done this or know how to?

thanks

The only hack that works on the CP 4-in-1 is to use a different receiver -

The built-in 4-in-1 gyro/mixer can't be disabled to allow another gyro to operate properly - You either have to ditch the CP 4-in-1 and go separates or upgrade to the Pro 3-in-1 which the gyro and mixing can be disabled for use with other gyros.

I believe that you can...all the 4n1 is, is a 3n1 and a receiver put together. Once you separate the two you should be able to run your HH gyro. This has been covered on another forum. Go to this link

http://bladecprepair.com/smf/index.php?topic=1021.0

If the link doesnt work go to bladcprepair.com and searh "HH and 4n1"

The CP 4-in-1 and the Pro 3-in-1/RX are indeed the same hardware but the Pro 3-in-1 has modified/updated software that allows the gyro and mixer to be disabled to accommodate the use of other gyros - The CP 4-in-1 gyro and mixer can't be disabled so conflicts with other gyros.

Now I am confused. I hear people hacking it in and setting gain and proportion to minimum. Now, doubt is in the air.

Right - "Minimum" - Not "Off" as there is no such thing as completely "Off" on the CP 4-in-1 - That's the software update of the Pro 3-in-1 making the "Minimum" pot positions completely "Disable" them rather than just "Minimize" them to make it possible to use separate gyros without conflict.

(I looked for the threads from around the time the Pro came out explaining this but couldn't find)

Ok I found the discussions with Jason Merkle from Horizon explaining/confirming this -

http://www.runryder.com/helicopter/p2149145/
http://www.runryder.com/helicopter/p2088952/
http://www.runryder.com/helicopter/p2191656/

BTW - I've tried both a seperate tail ESC and a Pro 3-in-1 with an HH gyro and prefer the behavior of the Pro 3-in-1 over the seperate tail ESC as you don't have to go through arming the tail ESC all the time and it still monitors the throttle and disables the tail ESC at low throttle instead of letting the gyro still drive the tail after crashing or while you're trying to handle the heli even tho you've killed the throttle.
