Fit it on the engine, grind it, fit it, grind it, fit it.

That's what I did.

ha ha yeah but what did you end up with? can you tell me for example if you had to remove part of the front of the shroud so it could be moved foward over the head fins?

grind to clearance the fins first

so that the fan shroud is not interfering with your choice of motor.

then you will be able to freely move it through the fore and aft adjustment.

make sure the motor is moved up to the high end of its position.

UK,
Take the front mount points, and take away some on the frame going downward, so the fan can lower itself in the front. This will give you the room you need.

Thanks guys I have just come back from working on her and decided exactly what you both have said get the engine as high as I can without fouling the clutch bell, with the shroud as low as I can, but hoped I wouldn't need to file the frames so that is good to know, and I have just finished marking out to clear the fins ready Mr dremel.
Still looks like this is an area with not much room for manouver

i also had to dremel out the frame in the front mounts but this was before i realized the shroud was hitting the motor fins. After trimming the shroud to fit the motor and the pipe it was easy to adjust with the motor mounts loose so you can move it up and down.

I had to remove a little bit of the shroud around the head of the OS. Also, I used a heat gun on the plastic on the area around the head and expanded it a bit. It worked great.

Thanks for the suggestions.

I have looked very carefully at mine and cut the front of the shroud just a little to allow it to move fwds and bckwds. I have a viper head fitted so there is no need to heat the shroud to deform it.

I am still playing with this but my conclusion at the moment is this.
THE slots for the shroud need to be about 11/2 mm lower at the back.

Or the upper slots for the bearing carrier could be eased up, but this will leave the bottom edges of the pinion and main gears lined up and i'm not too keen on that.

Reasoning is this, if you fit the shroud into it's holes, and the bearing carrier into it's slots and then move the carrier to set the mesh, the engine then has to be moved up hard into the carrier, and even without backing it out a touch as directed the fins touch the shroud, that is the bottom of the shroud for non Synergy owners not the top.

If I manage to get this together without any filing i'll let you know but i'm doubtful at the moment.
It has also just occured to me that if using the option of easing out the slots for the bearing carrier it would be possible to line the pinion up at an angle to the main gear so any one trying this be aware of that point.
