Dont know what the norm is but after about 9 hours the frame, motor (less securing the bolt, crankshaft lock coming Monday), hardware controls, electronics, are all installed and look great. Will get some pictures up after I get some cable solutions, still need main blades (thinking Radix 600mm), and still need to adjust ATG and Gyro but overall what a great build. I was very impressed by the tollerances of most of the parts, very accurate with very little design flaw slop...

Usually Im not a build guy... its the means to the end, but really could not ask for more as far as packaging, logic with packages (similar parts together with whats on the same part of the build), etc... you want to make sure you have the tools in the brochure and have a long screwdriver (very thin shaft) type 1.5mm hex driver; if you have the WIHA bits or other they wont reach into the servo stabilizers if they are too wide...

Anyway I have had a Rex, coupel Calibers, and some other misc helis not too experienced but some which made the assy seem to be second nature...

Great job guys...

One question... whats up with the yellow tail blades

They're so you don't go "Ooh, ahh". And then go and stick your fingers in them while it's running.. I run CF blades so don't worry about it anymore. The stock blades are fine though.

I remember the white t/r blades on the first TRex versions. Everyone was clamouring to dye them yellow and asking Align for yellow ones.

LOL! Welcome to Tiger and Pantera land!
The build should go per the book. JB has spent mucho hours to make sure your build goes well, and to teach you a few things.
Set up is next!
Thats the tricky part. We all have our problems with set up as some of us like to cocktail cruise, and others (me) like to take the ship to point of max "Q" !!!
Sometimes I pull a trick and wonder why in the hell did the thing not explode? Hmm.
Then again I flip a switch and go full FAI to mellow the wild to mild.
Congrats, and happy flying your new ship.
OH I got pink tail blades on one of my Pantera's just to goof the locals. CF blades on the Tiger!

Hey Walleye,

Interesting note about t/r blade colour. Some are black, some are yellow, some are blue....well my Century Raven V2 are CLEAR! LOL I had dumped all my leftover parts while completing the build into a clear plastic containe. I just spent 10 minutes looking for the t/r blades. The clear blades looked like the bottom of the container and it wasn't until I dumped everything out on the bench that I found them.

I like the pink ones!
It matches the skid protectors, and the fuel lines!
I thought that the pink tail blades would help durring the training of orentation. NOT! the blades just go away!

Indeed, going to get some CF pretty soon for it anyway :-) , but clear.... pink.... ILL TAKE YELLOW !!!!

I finished the canopy... first a question... the stickers arent sticking real great... is that why people are "licking" the canopy with fire ???

Secondly, man that thin style canopy is hot... got her all put together and I had to look around to make sure it was really mine :-) big diff btw this and cal 30 :-)

Yes, licking it will help (with flame, not your tongue) and so will isopropyl alcohol. The stickers for the Tiger never stuck that great but they were okay.

Walleye,
Yes you should flame the canopy. This will make the stickers stick. Once you flame it. Dip it in water. If the water sticks (like a sheet) your golden. If it beads up, the you should retreat. Remember a lazy flame, and just walk across the canopy. you will see a small wave appear as you flame it on the plastic.
Now the second trick.
Once the canopy is treated. Mix up some soapy water. I have an old windex bottle that I fill up with water, and put a several drops of dishwashing soap in it. Shake it up. Now spray the side of the canopy.
Place the sticker (you did cut them out?) and drag the sticker into postion. I use the back side of a #11 blade to to this. Once your happy with the placement. Use a paper towel to slowly dab the sticker down. Working the bubbles out and your Golden! A final press down using the paper towel. Repeat for each sticker.
I agree. It is an awsome looking bird!
Me? I use an electrotreat to get the canopy ready for stickers.
It does the same as a flame.
My two cents.

THanks for the tips, read about your deal on the other thread should have paid more attention... they are sticking to some extent but am going to try and reapply them (although the proverbial pooch is probably already screwed :-) ) ... actually I plan on using a thin coat of rubber cement on each side... otherwise the fiberglass looks pretty neat, and I just happen to have a pal who airbrushes professionally... http://airbrushfx.com/airbrush.html

Mind you the stickers were going to stick just fine till I messed with them :-)

I may have a set for you if you need them. I usually don't use the kit stickers as I don't like them. I cut new decals at work and it turns out I submitted a bunch of designs back during the Pantera canopy design contest that I can use. I'm sure I can use one of my FG canopies from the Tiger in the meantime too.

Let me know if you need them, could send them in a tube fairly easily I think.

Sent you an email Bill.

Don't have anything to add on the Pantera build because I'm still patiently waiting on my kit. Damn dog sled team is slow again...

Shayne,
Thanks for the mail. I think you should post your pics in the scale forum. Looks like you have a project on your hands!
I now have put two and two together. Some of your stickers had been in the front running with the contest. Mybe JB could give the new Pantera folks some "sticker" options. from the stock kit.
Nice work, your the man.
Time to recharge the toys and electric hunting socks for Sundays flying. It is warming up here 30F!!! a heat wave!
