Had problems with my 401/9254 combo today, tail would occasionally kick a little only a few degrees, but wasn't holding steady in a hover.

Decided to check it over tonight, found that the clutch was stuck for some reason, all sorted now, but while checking the tail linkage, I noticed that my 9254 is notchy, i.e as you rotate the servo wheel it makes a like tiny clicks. I've check the gears and their all fine, no lost teeth, so what could be the cause?

Should I just send it to Futaba, I wanted to send in the 401 anyway for checking.

Also anyone have any ideas how much it costs to look at these things? I'm not gonna pay silly money when a new combo is like £100.

Had the same thing happen to me. Was checking over my heli and found that the tail control was very loud. It turned out to be the 9254, which had become very "rough". Took it apart, checked the gears, which were fine. Cleaned the potentiometer, no change.

Send it back to Hobby Services, I just had my 9254 replaced because of the same exact problem. The servo felt like it had teeth missing from the gears and the tail would not hold. They replaced it for FREE.

Ok well I hope ripmax are as good as that here in the UK. I'll get both the servo and gyro posted off tommorow for checking.

Yes I believe so, Ripmax are the UK distributors for Futaba and their service agent too. I'll call them tommorow.

Too bad the distributors in my country only say "we'll send it in for repair, you pay the cost". The word "Warranty" is somewhat foreign to them.

Spoken to Ripmax today, well they say theirs nothing wrong with either the gyro or servo. They said that unless it was something they could replicate on the bench there was nothing they could do lol.

So oh well i've made some improvements on the rudder anyway, loosened up the wire joint and pitch slider so it's quite smooth and free now.

I'm gonna go back to single foam pad for mounting, change the servo horn so the limit is set right at 100.

See what happens then.
