8700g:
1520Us frame rate, and 4ms pulse rate

9251:
760Us Frame Rate and 3ms pulse rate

9253 / 9254:
1520Us frame rate and 3.5ms pulse rate

Hi

Interestingly, we have found that, although the 401 only runs the 9253 or 9254 at 3.5ms these servos are actually capable of running at 3ms which is as fast as the 601/611 drive the 9251/9256 servos.

It makes you wonder what the 760us thing with the 9251 and 9256 was all about anyway

Colin,
just mounted up my new 720 on one of the Rappy 90's. All I can say is wow. Super easy to configure and an amazing gyro. Went from an older G5000T with an 8700G to the 720 and 8700. Works fantastic.

Colin,
I'm using a 720 with a 9254 servo on my Trex 600. I find that I'm getting a very slow wag which isn't related to gyro gain. At the moment the gyro is mounted to the metal plate, on 4 foam pads to the gyro mount area above the tail boom mount. I did try a firmer mounting for the gyro but ended up with a slow rotation I could only stop with trim, this was after running through the quick setup again and adjusting the pushrod length to give the right offset when in rate mode. The gyro is set with the servo parameters although at the 3.5ms pulse rate. Any ideas?

I flew my Trex600and i honestly forgot all about the gyro did the quick setup at home set gain at 80% and flew it

Sounds like vibration, unlikly on a lecy tho. Check the push rod linkage is nice and free or even move the gyro somewhere else if you can.

Hi SRH990

Have a quick check if the slow wag is also there in conventional mode or not. Slow wags that are not significantly gain dependant are usually linkage related. If the wag is in HL mode only then that will confirm that. Stick-slip friction at the hub bearings and/or 'give' or slop in the linkage are the causes of the effect. Bear in mind that the tail bearings will be under about 150lbs of tension which is way outside their design load so even seemingly perfect bearings can cause the problem and that, unless you have a pull like Geoff Capes its impossible to put them under a test load by hand.

Anyway, let me know how you get on in normal mode.

Best regards

Colin

I've actually got a Quick UK tail fitted which has alloy blade grips and has thrust races fitted. I've had a quick look over and the movement is smooth enough but there is some slop in the linkages on the tail pitch yoke. I'll investigate this further and try normal mode, thanks.

As a rule the Futaba tail servos generally run the shorter pulse length of 760us (short) and the higher servo frame rate of 333 fps. It is very nessecary to change these values as it simply won't work with the wrong pulse length and will not be optimal with the wrong frame rate.

All Futaba digital servos are capable of 333Hz.
S9251, S9256 and BLS251 are 760us. All other Futaba servos are 1520us.

Does the 1520us and 760us refer to center deflection or full deflection ?

I am working on a servo tester at the moment and just started looking into frame rates and such. Anyone know of somewhere where i can find a summary of all the possible frame rates and pulse widths ?
