I was just wondering if any one else has the same problem. I have the new extreme TP 2070 25c and I am not sure how many cycles I have on it because I am not that anal, but it is not that many around 80. My esc is already going into the low voltage cutoff after 8 min on just hovering, forward flight and some pirouttes. No 3d. It is dropping the voltage to 10.1-10.3 after 8 mins.. Is this normal. I have been balancing it every four to five flights. Any suggestions or do I just need a new battery. I read that some of you guys get like two years and hundreds of cycles out of these batteries. I am I not taking proper care of them? I have my timer set for 9 min on my TX and only discharge the less than 80 percent a flight.

Frustration is the point where expectation does not exceed reality!!

How much Mah are you putting back into your battery? I stop flying so the resting voltage is not less then 11.1v. You should be putting back no more then 1600-1700 mah - anymore then that you are hurting the battery. You should stop flying your lipos when you have used up 80% of thier capacity.

I have owned the 3s tp 2070, tp 2100 prolites, and evo's. I prefer the EVO 2170.

Crap no kidding? So you try to program your timer such that this is the approximate amount that goes back in after the average flight? Apparently quitting when you notice power loss is way too late eh? At that point I'm putting back 1900+.

This is something I've seen quite a few times, especially with the smaller size packs (up to 2500 3S). I think the information in the esc documentation leads a lot of people to believe it is safe to fly until the LVC cuts the motor when in reality even the safest setting is really too late!

Since I started buying 3700 6S and 4900 6S packs I've taken a lot of notice and when I have a new setup I set the timer for 5 minutes, then land and check the amount of charge that goes back into the pack then adjust flying time to suit, I'm at 5.5 minutes with my Swift and 5.5 minutes with the Trex 600 too, usually leaves me just under the 80% mark.

One other problem with flying until the LVC cuts in is that you might be a fair distance away part way through a manouver and the last thing you want is a motor cut crashing the heli for you, in most cases it's better to risk the lipo than the whole heli.

I have lipos of 1300 to 8000 mah for over three+ years now.
They get used and abused. From gen 1 to gen 4 extreme.
My cutout voltage is 9.6V on a 3 cell or 3.2v per cell.

Abuse Example TP2100 brown stripe, I pull in bursts up to ""60 AMPs ""
We are talking over 200+ cycles now and they still keep going.
I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS. I do this in controlled bursts of 15 to 60 seconds, I have held this for 120 seconds one time and the packs got warm ~132F.

I want to find the break points of various parts and setups. I stress use the vendor specs NOT what I do!

I have been flying in -4F to 34F weather lately and the only thing so far in cold is the capacity is dimished up to 60% or more. The packs do not stay in the cold except when flying else they are in the truck with the heater on.

Go to http://www.mileskyhobbies.com/shop.asp and check out the Gentle lady video. Since the video was taken I have started to test the Extreme
batteries out. 50+ cycles and still going strong! See no degradation
of capacity at present time, from what I see, I do not expect any for some time.

I make custom motor mounts and I also exceed the motor specs by dissapating heat out of the motors.

In the video you see a PJS 1500 with a 13x4 APC prop, on the vertical
up line the recorder had 59 amps with TP2100MAH Gen 3 brown strip packs 2x series 3s1p. With the extreme version this jumps to ~70 amps
And goes even faster! The gentle lady is hauling @$$ to the extreme.
Have to call her MUSTANG SALLY. She moans all the way up.
This motor is rated for nom 25 amps and I take it to over double almost triple.
This motor has hundreds of flights.

AGAIN, DO NOT DO WHAT I DO OR HAVE DONE, USE VENDOR SPECS FOR ALL PRODUCTS.

As you all have said and asked me I am doing everything right. I set my timer for 9 min and then checked how many MAH I was putting back into the battery and it was around 1400 MAH that is 200 less than 80% so that is what I set my timer at. I would never intentionally fly it to the LVC. It just started happening on the one TP one day. My other TP I can still fly it for 9 min and still only put back 1400 mah. They both roughly have the same amount of cycles on them. That is why I am frustrated as tkilwein has said he has over 200+ cycles and he is pulling some serious amps. I have just been hovering. Anyways thanks for the input and any other suggestions would be appreciated.
