Hi guys,

I tend to fly with my very good stock Align 2100mah battery (great value for money, going to get some more).

But I do have a 2nd lipo that the guy who i bought the trex off sent me.

Its an old 2100mah lipo from an eflite heli.

However, it just doesnt seem as good as the align one. I have to hover at a much higher stick position, and the heli just seems to behave differently with this other battery.

Is the battery dead, or just a lesser quality? Admittedly it still gives me about the same flight time.

Unfortunately it doesnt have balance taps so I cant connect it to my cellpro to analyse it - I have to charge it with my hobbico mk2.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

If you still getting good flight times??? Sounds like it may be a quality issue. Are the discharge rates the same???

The stock (good) battery is 16C, the bad battery doesnt say! Im guessing this is probably the reason though!

I agree, a lower capacity battery is probably dropping in voltage ( more so than your ALign battery) when delivering the same current. You have to increase the pitch to hover to compensate - this will actually cause the battery to droop more etc. If you punch the pitch you will probably notice that the eflite battery does not deliver the power and takes longer to recover.

If the battery is underrated you are killing it slowly - I would just keep using it for hovering and slow slight until it dies. Just don't try and work it too hard - it may come up short when you need it most

Thanks for the advice.

I will just use it for setup checks and hovering etc.
