Having fitted the pitch links for the tail control, the arms seem very tight to me. The pins were a very tight fit through the aluminium hub even after cleaning the ends up and required some force to get them in place, so they wont rotate at this point at all.
Is this normal? and will the system operate smoothly enough when in use? or do I have a problem which needs adressing now?

you might have pinched the link to much with the pin clips. try setting the slider on a 2x4 with one of the pin clips down and tap the pin and see if you can loosen the link up a bit.

how i do it

this method works for me. i run a 5/64" drill bit through the aluminum first and then make sure the pin slides smoothly through. then it all assembles very easily after that. it seems as though the bit is just taking off the paint/coating.

My first Synergy links went to together fine but on the second I had to run a drill through as hansking12 did in order to get the pins through the aluminium.

Its normal. believe they are working on fixing it, but it does work fine this way, or you can drill it out. either way works. Up to you. just make sure you have your links on the proper way. Its a real dissapointment when you try to hook to the blade grip and they are backwards and you gotta re due it all.

Yeah, been there.

HA ha fastlif I feel your pain but I checkded rechecked checked again! because I knew I might not even be able to get it all apart again!!!!!!!!! and if I ever need to it will be get new parts I think.
I will say that although i'm not keen on the clips that hold the pins in place they are easy enough to do
