I haven't flown my Ion-X yet, so I don't know first-hand how maneuverable the thing is. But from the videos I've seen of it, it appears to be about the same as a Fury Extreme.

Enter RealFlight G3.5 and the two Expansion Packs, which contain the Ion-X and Fury Extreme helis (among a couple of Bergens, Avant Auroras, Raptors, a MA Stratus, and others)

The Ion-X is the most sluggish heli of the bunch, while the Fury Extreme is incredibly maneuverable and the Stratus is just plain ridiculously maneuverable.

Is the RealFlight software accurate in its attempt to duplicate the Ion?

I setup the initial flight physics for the Ion-X and the other Miniature Aircraft helicopters for RealFlight G3. My flying style is slow and smooth and all of the models were originally configured to suit that flying style.

After the Stratus and Extreme models were configured they were sent to Miniature Aircraft for 'testing'. Eric Larson did some tweaking to increase the throws and make those helicopters quicker. As you probably know, Eric can really throw a helicopter around. i.e. his flying style is very different from mine.

That said, I think all three of those helicopters are setup realistically. They just aren't all configured consistently.

It just seems to me that the Ion-X is really underpowered, especially when compared to the Fury Extreme and Stratus.

One less degree of collective than the Fury Extreme, for starters. +/- 10-degrees, as recommended in the Ion-X instructions.

One thing you can do with the Ion-X is to edit it and drop about a pound off of the weight..the G3 model is that much heavier than the Ions that i have encountered at the field.

Another thing you can edit to help liven it up a bit is to increase headspeed to around 2100.
