I looked at the 600 today I think I gotta have it, I was told by two people the price is going up from Align because the kit 600 with motor and other components for 530.00, soon will be over 740.00 Align says
the kit is to under priced now the parts included are 400.00 so the helo
only nets them 100.00 Has anyone heard this. He seemed to have good prices I bought his G3.5 sim package for 170.00, 30.00 cheaper than anyone around me. And I must say I like it, But I need expansion so I can fly the Raptor 30 and 60.

if you can't beat em, sneak up from behind..

Maybe they are going to increase the kit costs as the kit is still great value at the current prices.

If that is true and the numbers are correct, that's a 40% price increase which would suggest somebody in marketing got it way wrong! The 600 sells in a very much more competitive market than the 450 so it is possible that sales have not been as hot as they expected. Align's price point has always been cheap .... which means they need volume to generate the profits!

I am not an economics professor, but generally if you increase the price things are not going badly. Is it not a supply and demand question. They have a set number of kits that they have manufactured that are going to be for sale. Maybe they want to start manufacturing more kits, but that will take some time. Why not up the price for the kits if they are going to sell what they have in inventory regardless.

Regardless of weather or not the price increases..
There is about 3-5 Trex 600's at our field. Any other field I visit is likely to have 1 or more as well. If you ask me, I don't think they are hurting because they havn't sold enough 600's (or because of too small of a profit margin at the rate they fling these kits out)

Look around. They are everywhere!

A price DROP would more likely indicate they havn't sold enough of them.
(look at the MS hornet price drops after the Trex 450 came out)

Besides, the 600 is just about the cheapest 50 sized heli to crash. Crash parts are ALMOST on par with the 450!

there must be some other reason for the increase.

If they had the volume, 100 bucks net per person would be plenty
the real test would be to ask an honest vendor how many kits he is selling in comparison to other brands.

If that is so, they've made $200 net + lots of crashes so far from me..
so you must count into effect also repeat business. (eventually buying more than one kit)

I used to be a repo man, if you are skint you get tight, its called reality, you only ask for more money when you need it cause you aint got enough and you need more.
You ask for more money if you can get it. It is a business. Ford does not raise the prices of their cars when they are loosing millions of dollars every quarter. They drop the prices, add incentives, and offer better financing. Are Ford and Align in the same league? Of course not but it is just supply and demand. Economics 101.

Maybe this will help.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Supply_and_demand

Whether or not it is a good idea etc. I do not have a clue. I have no idea how many kits they have produced, how many kits they intend on producing, etc. I would think in the economics of model helicopters that you are going to make a good portion of your money on spare parts. So the more kits that you sell the more parts get bought. Willy you should buy some stock in Align if it is available. This way you could give us a heads-up on future marketing trends.

Maybe that now the 600 has proved itself, it can hold its own in a higher price bracket or maybe making room for the 500???????.
I don't think Align would be in trouble money wise as they are pretty diversified in their business. I guess only time will tell, usually only 10% of rumours is true.

I don't know about the price of the 600 going up but I have heard that the price of Raptors is due to drop in the UK shortly, if I was Thunder Tiger I'd be very worried about the imminent launch of the Trex 600 Nitro.

and your esc come witht the kit, i bet you wouldnt have bought it specifically for the logo
Actually, I did (just finished the logo this month)
It's the new version align 75A esc with heatsink case. I inspected the innards myself for flaws, but did not find any.

I did not get any new version ESC's in either of the two trex 600 kits I bought. Both older versions had what I determined to be an internal short issue if you use them with zipties or mount them too firmly.

I applied a piece of electric tape in a well placed area, and they worked fine afterwards (even if ziptied down to the frame very tight). After learning this, I use align electronics now, but after carefull inspection and or modification.

Increase in price = decrease in sales. Anyone honestly think with new helis coming out from other vendors that Align would "raise" the price???, I "REALLY" don't think so, that would only be a recipe for disaster.

...Once upon a time there were Nitros, flybars and frequency pins...
