Just did it, sent away my payment for one Pantera 50. I can't wait to check out the heli when it gets to me. Woo Hoo, the Pantera 50 looks to be a very promising heli.

Yup shopping for components it is. I've been wondering between a couple of different servos mainly between futaba digitals vs airtronics digitals. For the motor I'm thinkin 50 hyper but also curious about using a larger motor. Is anyone out there using an engine larger than a 50?

Glad to hear your build went smooth Walleye, I'm looking forward to doing the same with mine.

On servos my iopinion is fast and strong is fast and strong... no matter who makes them but I prefer Futaba... I would use the fast Airtronics if this was not ccpm though...

Im using S9252 on all but the tail which is 601 / 9251 combo...

Engine... one of the reasons I moved to a 50 sized is I hate the finicky nature of the .32 and look forward very much to the stable anture and proven results in tuning of the 50 hyper... and really, I will bet John wil chime in but with the weight to power ratio of the Pantera it should beat about anything out there... this is mechanically speaking whereas mine is still sitting on my dining room table begging for electronics :-)

What ???? Yes master will comply.... off to install electronics....

Hyper 50 with a Hatori JK 50 pipe, I've tried the MPII and JB's pro muffler and the Hatori is the best pipe I've put on a Hyper bar none.

I also like the Futaba 9252 servos and with the Arizona Reg I like the 6v to the CCPM servos.

Pick up a LogicTech6100T Gyro, it is a new gyro that is in competion with the 611, the logictech is smaller and lighter then the 611 becuase it is only one unit and its tail servo has more speed and torque then the 611. You can find the 6100T at heliproz. There is a big thread over in the radio, gyro section. EVERYONE who has used it is truly amazed with its performace.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. For the cyclic servos, I was between the futaba 9252s, 9451s, and the airtronics 94758z. Don't know if I want metal gears or not. I will be doing a regulator running lion. The motor looks to be a hyper for now and the pipe I'm still thinking about.

Hey Foxden, you've used JBs pro muffler, how did the muffler perform? Any comments?

The pipe was designed for the Hyper running @ 1920 Headspeed and at that speed it performed well, We've decided to run the headspeed on our Hurrican @ 1980-2000 for the maneuvers that my son is doing he wanted the higher headspeed, once I installed the Hatori JK pipe the heli had more noticible power at the higher headspeeds, if you only going to run a 1900 headspeed the pro muffler will be fine.

In the 1850-1920 range it performed as well as the MPII pipe I was running.

I was thinkin the same thing you just posted chopperman1 about the 6100T gyro. It seems like good results with that gyro setup so I probably will be picking one up to try out.

Thanks foxden for the comments, your info will definately help me out in deciding what muffler I will be using which will be either JBs pro muffler or the JK50 muffler.

The search continues as I wait for the Pantera to show...

Guess what showed up yesterday?

That's right folk, now I've got my very own Pantera. I was waiting, a little exicited to put my hands on the kit and put it together so I went ahead and spent a couple hours. I like the organization of the parts definately helpful for newbies. So far I've got the frame together with the head but no links anywhere. 4 servos installed except for the gyro and rudder servo, 6100T, which I'm still waiting for funds to get (I missed out on that one in the classifieds not too long ago dang!) Quality looks superb, I'm enjoying the build. I know that the most because I don't want to stop lol.

Here's what I've got so far:
(3) Futaba s9451 on cyclic
(1) Futaba s3151 on throttle

I'm planning on completing the heli with:
Youngblood ATG
OS 50 Hyper
Logictech 6100T gyro and rudder servo

Sweet!
The Pantera is very nice bird to build.
Take your time my friend. Looks like your well on your way!
LOL. I find building the thing goes real fast. It's installing all the electronics and dialing things in takes the time.
Keep us posted. Don't forget to flame the canopy and tail feathers before the stickers.
