Hi , I got the PowerJazz and program card in the mail a couple of days ago and have some questions about setting it up (for AP...just to stay on topic .

Does the ESC need to be plugged it to the main power to program it?
I tried to simiply plug in the program card into a Rx and the PowerJazz and the lights flash but the buttons on the program card don't do anything and all lights are off.

Also the instructions for both the ESC and program card are not very instructional. Does anyone know of a site that has more detailed instructions on installing/setting up and operating this ESC?

I have Gerd's cheatsheet and will us it once I get to the point I can program the ESC.

Can I plug in the ESC to the main batteries (Tanic 2x 5s3p 7500)without a motor attached (if needed to program the ESC)?

Thanks for all help.

David

It took a bit to understand, but here's what you do. get the esc, receiver pack, programming card, flight battery in front of you. connect esc to card. connect flight battery to esc. connect receiver to card. lights flash, then their settings show up.

Rhett..... I can't fly, but the Profi sure can.

Ok, so no problems, I soldered on the battery connectors and powered everything up. I set it up per Gerd's advice (http://www.runryder.com/helicopter/...ghlight=Gerd#RR) but don't have the Soft or Fast Startup as an option lit.
Is this an option that you have available when programing the ESC?

perhaps your led's don't work. a few of mine don't either. when you initially plug the receiver pack into the card, the lights flash. do all your lights flash? if not, those are burned out. It's annoying, but on mine it's only a couple, and they aren't related, so I can figure if 3/4 of the timing ones light, and non are lit, then i know which one is selected. I need to test the powerjazz more, mine had issues, sent to germany, and less then a week later, I've got a new one.

You don't get the smooth or fast option if you set it up like Gerd recommends. This is disabled and skipped over. Probably because of selecting RPM control (or possibly another setting). Don't worry though. The startup will be very smooth.

Thanks ehx! I was hoping that was the case, but wanted to check before I dig a hole with the heli.

Rhett, what problem were you having? I would like to know what to look out for.

Thanks!

I connected the esc one day, and heard a pop, and it wouldn't start.
