Hey,
I have a sonix 1200mah battery from helidirect, And I'm trying to charge it on my robbe lipomat 5-4000 charger with built-in balancer. While I charged it, I checked everytime the voltage and after an hour it was 12.60 Volts. 4.20V each cell.
Then, I disconnected the battery and checked again the voltage. this time it was 12.57V, 4.19V each cell. When I'm connecting the battery to the esc(eflite 3in1 for now) and checking the voltage, I get again 12.60V, 4.20V..

Why is that? Should I check my battery voltage when it's connected to something(charger, esc, 3 in 1) ?

slow down

you are worrying way to much over less than 1/10 of a volt. I am a electronics tech . I wont explain loading or internal capacitance your charger adding voltage and heat and your electronics drawing off of it. Worry only when you unplug your battery from the charger and it drops more than a volt. Then the packs are starting to deteriorate.

I'm an electronics tech as well, and I understand why does it happening. I just want to know if it is say something about the quality of my pack.. Will the voltage go down constantly?

He's right, you are worrying about nothing. Just use it. When it loses its punch, then you think about it. I wear down my stock Esky lipos in about 80 flights or 20 hours. Still, it is usable. It just doesn't punch out as hard as it did when new.

And oh, quit with the laying of credentials. Both of you hehe. We all know there are good as well as bad doctors.

creds?

I was just trying to show I am knowlegeable on the subject even though I am a new heliman not just throwing my 2 cents at you I apologize to this post. I was trying to explain that the loading effect of charging current vs load current is what you were experiencing not pack degredation. You will almost always be able to charge a pack back to its voltage but the amp/hour run time will suck.

you shouldn't apologize... You gave me a good answer. Thanks.

I guess I'm worrying about nothing, just wanted to know to gain some knowledge..

Today I had a great flight. little windy 12mph or something like that. I turned the idle-up on and put the sym. plasti-blades. That was GREAT.

I got the brushless setup from helidirect(hdx300 outrunner and dynam 18A). Not sure I'm going to put this setup now. after a great flight like this, I wonder why I need this brushless.. maybe for a really windy day..
