I have seen talk about having enough volume in mufflers so the engine can breath right. A lot of mufflers are to small so my question is if one would take a Mavrick muffler that is for a OS 70 and fit it to a 50 size engine. Would this work well or would it be too big? Curious as to what others think.

Thanks

I dont know what type of header it has, eg whether it is one piece or separate to the muffler.
But the bolt spacing on the OS70 is larger than that on most 50's eg the OS50

SB-15

I used the hatori SB-15 on my 50 for three years with great success. The SB-15 was an early 80/90 sized muffler. The mufflers kept getting larger and larger during that time, so even though the SB-15 was considered an 80/90 muffler, the REAL 90 mufflers were much bigger. Todays modern 90 mufflers are much larger.

I also ran the SB-15's on an OS 70 will great success.

The SB-15 and JK special are very similar in size, I believe.

Not to change the topic but I just got a SB-50 and was very surprised to see how big it was. I guess I am used to seeing the stock 50 muffler, I hope it makes as big of a difference as everyone says. 240mm long and 50mm dia.

I know the bolt spacing will be different and would need to be drilled out. Have thought about putting it on a TT 50.

It has been dicussed before, not the mavrick 70 muffler, but other 60/70 mufflers. Do a search for "os50 60 muffler". You should fin some info. Some threads will date back to a few years back, because that was the time when everyone was ugrading to 90 and left with 60's cans. Generally those who have done it felt it was powerful BUT complained of lack of back pressure and leaning out at low fuel level. Some complained of needle issue. The MP1 seemed to work well though.
