Today I was flying my raptor 90, I was just about to put it in idle up when suddenly the heli flipped over! It was as if I was doing a backward flip, I tried to correct it but it just wouldn't respond. The result was a broken GY611 amp, v main and tail blades and the boom etc When I got to the heli I saw the battery lying on the field and it was sizzling This is a 4.8v nicad which has about twenty flights on it. I checked the heli once I got home and there is nothing unusual that I can find. I was the only guy at the field so there can't be any interferance. Do u guys think it was the battery? I flew my other heli afterwards on the same frequency without any problems. I ordered the parts to repair it but would like to know the cause since I'm afraid of a repeat performance of the chicken death dance which I saw today.

Most likley the battery or the switch went out. Id replace both and try them. If you want to spend the money, go for the fromeco set up.

Arizona reg and a 2400 will run you about $100-$120
Arizona reg and a 4800 will run you around $130-$150.

niCd hasn't let me down, though the fromeco set up is nice. sounds like maybe the joints on the battery came apart and then shorted.

torkboy, bgjames111 thanks for ur posts. I've recently bought the Flightpower rx batterys, duralite 5.3 volt regulators and heavy duty switches which I was planning to install next week on both my helis. Guess I should've done so earlier
