I did some upgrades on my CP Pro today. I added a GY401, e-flite park 370 brushless motor and 20 amp esc.

After all the upgrades I plug in a lipo to check the equipment and my tail just goes full speed.

I tried adjusting the Limit and Delay pots on the gyro but not having any luck.

I'm still using the stock e-flite transmitter and receiver.

Any help would be great.

Thanks
Is it possible to run this set up?

Park 370 Brushless Motor
20 Amp ESC
GY401 Heading Hold Gyro
Stock Receiver and Radio

Can I do this without the E-Flite 3-in-1 control unit?

Does the tail motor require an ESC?

CP Pro?

Did you turn down the pots on the 3 in 1. Did you use the Y connector and "arm" the system in the proper order.

Dear God, please let it set down just as it took off. Amen.

I am not using either, I have a stand alone esc. All I'm using is the receiver.

Check the manual for the CP PRO

Sorry wasn't thinking. http://www.horizonhobby.com/ProdInf..._Pro_Manual.pdf
Just making sure you have the manual.

Dear God, please let it set down just as it took off. Amen.

The manual doesn't say any thing about a GY401, 370 brushless motor and 20 amp esc combination

OK Your pluged the lead fron the GYRO to the # 4 Slot and the remote to # 5. And when hooking up the BL you removed the BEC option(middle red wire) Wait what is your tail motor wire plugged into.

Dear God, please let it set down just as it took off. Amen.

UUgggghhhh!!!!!

Man, right at the pinnacle of technological advancement. Have you seen the posts on the 4 in 1 repair. I'm not sure but, does Esky make a 3 in 1? Could save $. I know you have been doing this longer that I have but you do have a servo Y and a the power Y. Did you have problems with the 3 in 1 before your upgrade? I'm sorry for your loss.

Dear God, please let it set down just as it took off. Amen.

I didn't even get to try it with 3-in-1.

I was soldering on some micro deans and messed up the polarity on the
3-in-1 unit.

If any of you are using the micro deans. Be very carefull and triple check you work!!!

Forget that Esky comment

Esky=$55 E-flight $44. I'll try to track down that repair link. If anyone has this jump in here.

Dear God, please let it set down just as it took off. Amen.

Stealth,

Just wondering if you checked the reverse switch on the GY401. If it's set wrong, the gyro could make the heli spin.

Yeah, I tried changing the reverse switch a few times also but no luck.

I'm sure I need the 3-in-1 for this to work right.

As for fixing it, I have already ordered a new one but I will keep the broken one around for when ever I feel like tinkering.

If your using the stock transmitter then you will definitely need the 3-in-1 to do the tail mixing for you. The only way you can use seperates is by using a computer TX to do the mixing. Basically what is happening is that the gyro wants to center the output, that means by default it is telling the esc to go to 50% throttle, because 50% is the middle or neutral point as far as it is concerned.

so are you saying I would be able to do this with my XP6102 transmitter with out the 3-in-1 unit? I would definitely pick up a micro receiver and just get rid of the bulky e-flite receiver and 3-in-1 unit.

Or would I still require an esc for the tail motor?

What would I have to program on my transmitter to get this to work with out the 3-in-1?, If possible.
