Don't use DR but you can add a little expo to calm the heli down at hover like 10-15% I tend to stay away from any of that because I want the heli responsive not all numb feeling...

Tom..... No "D" flying....

Yup, same here. I worked/paid to much to get faster cyclic to turn it down with DR or Expo.

I'm of the school that says learning on a slow responding heli is harder than a quick resonding heli eg. I want the heli to respond emediately to stick input otherwise you end up "chasing" the heli with your thumbs.

Scenario 1 - newbie waits to see heli moving left to start input of stick right. heli is responding but slowly and newbie puts stick further to right. Heli finally responds but due to too much stick input, starts moving right.....repeat...back and fourth...side to side...10 - 20 m circle.

Scenario 2 - I train to fly the heli at all times. don't wait for it to move and then react or you start out behind and chasing. even in a stationary hover you can be ahead of the movement by sending little commands and then cancelling them with exact opposite command before the heli actually starts to move. to do this, you need fast cyclic though...a light touch...and remember lots of small stick moves.

I use 25% expo with my DX7 and fly according to futuramille's Scenario 2 but with a little room to stretch out and relax some - Rather than be on edge from quick reactions to tiny inputs I prefer slow reactions to tiny inputs and fast reactions to large inputs - But it's a creature feature that will differ for each person.

Cyclic is typically around 30% to 40% expo, none on rudder, and never use dual rates.

I use dual-rate and expo for inside hovering with my HDX300. I have the V2 head installed on this heli. This combo is very responsive, way too much so for (comfortable, at least for me!)indoor hovering. As such, I use 33% expo and a dual-rate travel of 80% for the aileron/elevator. I use the left switch for selecting dual-rate/expo and the right switch for gyro function selection. These values and switches are for my Spektrum DX6 system.

I tried the same settings on my modified HoneyBee CP2, but don't use them. Even equiped with a MicroHeli head, running an outrunner brushless motor and guided by my Spektrum DX6, the response of this heli is MUCH slower than the HDX300/V2 head combo
