I have an "OLD" V1 that I have 3 full crash kits for and am just getting back into flying after 4 plus years. I was thinking about getting the V1 to V2 upgrade back then but stopped flying. Now I see that there are a lot of V1 parts still out there so is the V2 upgrade needed? I am not a super high end 3D guy but do like to do flips, rolls and stall turns. That is when I get back to that level. So do I spend the money on the upgrade kit to V2, if I can find one, or fly it until it is a total write off and get a new V2 kit??

Thanks for any help.

Stick with it until you crash your way out of V1 parts or it really needs a rebuild.

That is a good approach since the V1 to V2 upgrade includes nearly a complete clutch stack an pretty much a complete head. All you need is a set of main bearings and you damn near have a new heli.

Again, I would recommend upgrading to the V2 tail assembly - it's about ~$30 worth of parts. The V1 tail is jut asking to use up a crash it and then some.

heliproz:
PV0200 or PV0526 - bearings - $16.99
Pv0148 - blade grips - $6.99
PV0499 - SUS tail hub $5.79

Most shops that carry Raptor stuff have these. you can find the bearings cheaper at avidrc.com or rc-bearings.com

I never had a single problem with my R30V1 when I owned it. I'd only upgrade as you break things or need to. As mentioned, maybe the tail upgrade would be a good investment to prevent a crash but it's not entirely necessary

Well I know I have crashed a lot with this helicopter. I was at the point of inverted stuff so I put it into the dirt more then I care to admit. I think I will get the new tail parts. I may be at a point that I just keep the V1's I have as a second set of helicopters and get a new V2 or something else to fly/crash.

I got my brothers V1 last week. So now I have 3 helicopters ready to fly. I may just put one on the shelf for parts and fly the fertilizer out of the other

Thanks for the help.
