I posted this on the E Series Raptor forum by mistake. Posting here as well.

I noticed today while cleaning up my Raptor 50 that I get black streaks on my blades (both tail and main rotor). It appears that it might be the black plastic mixed with oil streaking out from under the grips (see pic). I wiped it off the main rotors before I thought to take a picture. Is this typical? Is this the grips wearing down?

Quite normal to be black if you have aluminium spacers on your blades, the streaks can be caused by oil from exhaust or grease from the thrust bearings in the grips. My grease is red so the streaks are red.

LOL! I fixed the spelling. And, NO, there is not someone running naked on my blades.

I don't have spacers on either my main rotor or tail blades. From the plastic grips? I assume it's "normal".

Thanks.

Yes, it's normal, generally grease seep from the thrust bearings.

I get the streaking on my T/R blades with no thrust bearings as well as my main blades. I assume it is just oil getting in there from the engine/smoke.

Yup your right. The black streaks are from the engine. Well Exhaust left overs.
I wouldn't even worry about it. I get those streaks on both my main blades and tail blades. I just wipe them off after every flight.

Its just oil from the exhaust along with dirt and dust. It cyclones into the head and on the blades, leaving those streak marks. Nothing to worry about, wipe it off an go fly....

Of coarse I know how to fly this thing, but if you see me running try to keep up!!

I usually see that kind of thing on helis where people have used oil to lube their bearings/dampers instead of grease. The forces involved while the blade is spinning then throw the oil on to the blades. Have never seen them when grease is used.
